In addition to the other great answers you already have, my son's private school's conduct policy includes things done off campus as possible violation of the rules---for example--they can be drug tested at any time for any or no reason. Also--if there was a party and kids were drunk--they could get in trouble with the school as well.

We've had kids get suspended this year already for content posted on Face Book since that is organized by schools and the kids are identified as students of that school. The photos were not considered "appropriate." Yes,my son was one of the ones who got suspended--I didn't necessarily agree, but it's not a public school, so there wasn't much I could do.

There are less students per teacher in private school...meaning the child will be able to get more one on one attention. Public schools' classroom tend to be overcrowded and the students who have problem tend to be overlooked. In public schools, the kids are the ones who have complain about getting help for the problems they are having, but in private, the teachers can detect who are having problems (because there are less kids in the class) and they can begin to work with the kids before they fall way behind.

Public- usually free and supported by government
- high crime rate
- classes are chaotic (from what I see from movies)
- some students don't care if they don't learn and some teachers don't care about their students or not teaching
- huge number of students per class, about 30
- more discrimination
- low standard of education/ difficult to go to college/ more likely not to go to college and just start working

Private- not free. Sometimes very expensive
- very low crime rate/ controlled environment
- organized/ school do their best to put students in classes they want and take time fixing schedules
- teachers have high salary. They care about students because students can complain about teacher
- small number of students per class, about 10-20
- students blend in/ unity
- high standard of education/ students are more likely to go to a really good university

in private schools the classes are usually smaller, so the kid gets more individual attention.
in public school you have to be more independent.
in any case, what a kid learns depends on the kid too, how motivated they are :)
