It doesn't matter "when life begins", that's irrelevant. The point is that it is a potential life. Even if it isn't technically a "life" or alive yet, IT WILL BE. Preventing a life to live on the earth, even if it hasn't arrived yet, is in a sense murder. I'm not 100% against abortion, nor would I call those who have or perform abortions murderers, but I life is a life regardless of it's stage or others' religious view.
Besides, the murders you are referring to were leaders of men ordering others to murder, saying it was in the name of God (I'm not a Catholic). By committing an abortion is saying, "I made a mistake and got pregnant. But, instead of facing the consequences, I'm going to take the easy way out." Most abortions are done for very selfish reason's. And, because one person would rather be be selfish and not admit a mistake; they would rather prevent a life from coming to earth then be embarrassed.
One might say, "Well, that person saved that would be life from a world of hate and turmoil." Maybe so, but don't you think that life has a right to exist and found out for itself; rather then being discarded like some kind of garbage.
If that baby is not wanted, then give it up for adoption. There are always more families looking to adopt then there are children available.

First of all, according to Scripture, a true Christian will not commit murder. People have committed murder throughout the centuries in the names of all different religions and philosophies, but we are not responsible for what others did in the past (or do in the present) while falsely claiming to be Christians. Your argument makes no sense. Can I not say that slavery is wrong if some of my ancestors owned slaves?
Secondly, the Bible does not teach that the earth is flat. For example, Isaiah 40:22 refers to the earth as a "circle," using the Hebrew word "chuwg," which can mean "sphere."
Thirdly, there is no scientific debate about when life begins. According to embryology textbooks, it begins at fertilization:

Are you aware of what abortion actually does to unborn children? Are you the type of person who supports this type of violence?

Killing innocent human beings is wrong. You don't have to be a Christian to know that.

Firstly my friend, its important for you to understand that there are 2 types of Christians - those who have been brought up Christian or those who merely go to church on a Sunday but have not had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ and do not KNOW God. These give Christianity a bad name because they call themselves Christians but do not serve the Lord. Then there are those of us who are born again Christians and who the Lord slowly changes and delivers and begins to turn us into what He wants us to be - an image of Himself.
It is these who try to be like Jesus, who are born again, that will not murder others in the name of our God. The "Christians" who killed were from the Roman Catholic System - they killed those they called heretics - those that did not abide by their rules. Many born again Christians were killed for this reason too - by the Roman Catholic system.
Secondly, scientists are not God and they only operate because they are trying to find out the "how" of things.
Abortion is murder, not because the Bible states it is, but because of what SCIENCE has determined - a baby's heart begins beating before 3 months, and their bodies begin to at conception. Is this not murder my friend??

Anyone who has taken junior high school life science knows when life begins. It is a fundamental fact, not a matter of opinion. The life of any sexually reproducing organism begins when a male gamete and a female gamete combine in a process called fertilization. The resulting cell is the first cell of the body of a new individual who has never existed before, and who has the same rights as any other human being. You don't have to be a scientist to understand this.

Look , call it science if it makes you feel better. I am not responsible for what people did in the name of God centuries ago. I know what God's word says today and it's the same today as it was then. I just brought up something that IS murder and Christians definitely feel strongly about. You atheists do it all the time. try and reason with a group of people who already have ALL the answers and know everything *sarcastic* you know when life begins so i should bow to superior knowledge.

You are mistaken, science is a gift from God to us. God is the inventor of science. Christians may agree with the statement that abortion is murder, however this is what God clearly states in His word to us. Accept the truth and wisdom of Christ Jesus, or accept the wisdom of this world. It is a choice we all have to make. If you knew that studying hard to be a Doctor or a Lawyer would better your life. Wouldn't you do this?
How much more should we study the facts about our eternal destiny? Nothing is more important than this one decision.
May God Bless you and open your mind to His thoughts.
Peace.

Christians have not been murdering and killing for centuries. Counterfeit Christians have been doing that. Jesus made it quite clear before his death that there would be a bumper crop of counterfeit Christians and on account of these, true Christianity (the way of the truth) would be spoken of abusively. That is precisely what happened and continues to happen. Just as Matthew 13:24-43 and 2 Peter 2:1-3 bring out, these who claim to be Christian show they are not for they have disowned the very one they claim bought them – Jesus Christ. For in his name, they have professed to be Christian, professed to follow the prince of peace yet slaughtered humans and for what? So-called heresy? In defense of a so-called holy city? That is not following the prince of peace. That is following his arch-enemy, Satan. Just as a true vegetarian does not eat meat, a true Christian does not practice vile things such as murder.
As for the shape of the planet, the Bible pointed out long ago that it was round. Please see, for example, Isaiah 40:22 (the Hebrew word here rendered circle can be translates sphere). The Greek scholar Pythagoras asserted that the earth was round; he lived about 540 to 500 B.C.E. However, Isaiah, who lived centuries earlier (eighth century B.C.E.) wrote the above under divine inspiration. The prevailing opinion at the time may have been that the earth was flat but this mistaken belief does not find its origin in the Bible.
As for the start of human life, the Bible – the book that correctly described the earth as round – states how God feels about life – which he views as beginning at conception. At Exodus 21:22, 23 we read: “In case men should struggle with each other and they really hurt a pregnant woman and her children do come out but no fatal accident occurs, he is to have damages imposed upon him without fail according to what the owner of the woman may lay upon him; and he must give it through the justices. But if a fatal accident should occur, then you must give soul for soul.” Now it is true that some translations make it appear that in this law to Israel the crucial matter was what happened to the mother, not to the fetus. But in the original Hebrew text, the reference is to a fatal accident to either mother OR fetus.
Some people say a fetus is not alive; others say it is not a person. But how does God feel about the fetus in the womb? Psalm 139:13-16: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Clearly, God calls precious the life in the womb.

To be quite honest, Jesus said it so himself:
By the fruit shall you know the tree
Christians condemn themselves from their own mouth, by their own words. Their words are the fruit of their mouths and their minds, and it evidently isn't on the loving/forgiving aspect he preached.
What most Christians don't realize is that choosing to be a follower of Jesus is simply more than sprinkling some water on yourself and saying 'amen' alot. Its kinda like signing a 'covenant' with Jesus to be his 'follower'. That means following his example, which does NOT include alot of name-calling, condemning, and finger-pointing. Every worker has to answer to their boss, and its always uncomfortable when the boss lets you in on the secret that he's known all along what you've been up to.
So Christians can be as un-Christian as they want to be. They still have to answer to their boss eventually.

I am a christian, and sometimes I even think the same thing. I think they don't know what they're doing, and remember that it's obviously not what ALL christians do. Also, some people think that they are always right and that's just how they are.

>>christians dont know when life begins<<
I know that science says the life of an individual begins at fertilization:
---
Fertilization: Beginning a new organism
Fertilization is the process whereby two sex cells (gametes) fuse together to create a new individual with genetic potentials derived from both parents. Fertilization accomplishes two separate ends: sex (the combining of genes derived from the two parents) and reproduction (the creation of new organisms). Thus, the first function of fertilization is to transmit genes from parent to offspring, and the second is to initiate in the egg cytoplasm those reactions that permit development to proceed. -- Developmental Biology, 6th Edition
