Seriously, think about it. They don't force convert anyone or threaten to persecute them if they have other beliefs.Bhuddists generally don't get rich and they are happy with the little things they have. They practice what they preach, and instead of trying to kill people of other religion, they learn about them and gracefully accept their presence. Buddhists have more self control over themselves and meditate over their problems instead of blaming people of other religions.

And of course, a lot more Bhuddists are vegeterians :)

Because although no one will admit it, Jesus is supposed to have spent some years in the Himalayas, meditating and learning from sages.

There are several monasteries which if you visit, will tell you that an incarnation of God called 'Yesu' (Jesus) lived in the Himalayas for some years before going back, and the information they have about him corresponds to Christ's life to a very great extent.

Great question.

I think the emphasis on "Christ-like" behavior assumes that we know what Jesus was like. The gospels fail to show a sufficiently consistent figure to learn what Jesus character actually was.

For example:
"Blessed are the peacemakers"
vs.
"I come not to bring peace, but a sword";

"Judge not that ye be not judged"
vs.
"'And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them."

I think you have noticed that some Christians display ideal of helpful (not harmful) behavior, which is often seen as a Buddhist ideal.

There are many places in the Gospels in which Jesus sounds exceedingly compassionate. However, Christians who feel self-righteous & judgmental have plenty of Jesus material to support that position, too.

I have often said if there actually was a second coming and Jesus really did come back the last thing he would want to associate himself with would be Christianity as it is currently practiced.

I have no doubt he would be a Buddhist if he ever came back.

If the long awaited rapture actually happened it would be hilarious the day after with all of the Christians standing around speculating about what had happened to all of the Buddhists.

Love and blessings Don

- Christians have a difficult time, due spiritual warfare from the devil because their saved & fight him & are going to Heaven & as a result dealing with others is sometimes shifty, & course, Sometimes they are even in survival mode. Bhuddists are way more pleasent due to their not being a direct enemy of satan & thus, far less spiritual warfare going on in their heads in everyday life, giving a cool, calm, apearanse. Yep & rightly so, the devil is happy with the Buddist's they are nice & out of his way, so he can keep doing his job, to steal, kill, & distroy.

Buddhists focus upon self improvement above all else, along with helping others in practical ways. We try to be humble and cause no harm at all times, most people forget this and simply get caught up in spreading the word and fighting for their beliefs as opposed to putting them into practice.

Buddhist quote:

Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the great masters; seek what they sought.

(btw microw, buddhists believe in Mara [the deciever], a great demon who plagues the minds of all men, Buddha was one who banished Mara from his mind, and buddhists seek to eliminate and defeat Mara too).

Buddhists are nicer because they dont have the Ego of the idea of a One true religion and a One true God, thier rules are not the rules of christianity, they run a less stringent guide for life.

I agree with you that Buddhists are often good people and that we can all learn from their meditations. But Christians have often reached out to poor and sick, desolate and needy people while Buddhists are more laissez faire.

So, I take it that you know every Christian in the world. You give yourself the right to judge us all.
Comparing Christians to Bhuddists is like comparing apples to oranges. They have different leaders. Bhudda is the leader of Bhuddists, not Christ.
I have never tried to force anyone and have never persecuted anyone for their beliefs. I may tell them what I believe, but it is their right to choose their life path. I try to treat others the way I would like to be treated, and I practice being kind to my enemies.
I don't know who you are speaking about who say they're Christians, but it's not the ones that I know.
And when did being a vegetarian necessarily make you a better person? My sister in law is Bhuddist and she eats meat all the time, so maybe you are incorrect.

It would be due to the teachings of Buddha. They believe in forgiving your enemies, letting go, respect one another.... etc.
Some Christians whom I know go to church every Sunday and attend bible studies but do not practice honesty, sincerity, hardworking, forgiveness and other good values. Sad..isn't it?
