I purchased a used car from a dealer and the dealer did not do everything they agreed to do to the car before I took possesion. Because of this, I now have a non functioning vehicle 3 days after taking possesion, I live in Missouri.

1. Call the dealer immediately. If the salesman is non-commital, ask for his supervisor/manager or the owner. Keep the records of all your calls (i.e. the time and date, the parties involved and the gist of the concersation). Record the calls if possible.
2. Write them via e-mail and print out all messages to keep in a folder for your file. Also write a letter by registered mail. Give them a deadline to fix your car or take it back with full refund to you.
3. See an attorney. Sue the dealer if there's no commitment or action by a certain date.

First, I have to ask why you took delivery before the work was done?

If the work was agreed in writing, take the car back and demand that they do the work.

If it wasn't in writing you're pretty much screwed, your only option is to get it repaired at your own expense.

The MO lemon law won't help you; it only applies to new vehicles covered by a manufacturer's warranty.

If it was a pre-owned car (which I assume it was) and was bought as-is, then you don't have much to stand on.

DO you have a We-Owe that shows what work they might owe you upon delivery?

If you have everything in writing, then you can take them to small claims court. If not, you are probably out of the cash to fix it.

read over the papers you signed. Is what they agreed to do in there? If you got only verbal agreements it will be very difficult to get any help. If they did in writing you could possibly sue them or go to the BBB.
