OK Robin. The question should be is it a sin to steal from the poor to make yourself rich.

I think that it is, even if the law has been manipulated to make it legal to do this.

Love and blessings Don.

It is a sin if you believe it to be a sin! it's a crime in all cases!
The Bible doesn't assume that the poor are especially prone to sin, on the contrary. Rich thieves as well should put aside their thievery.
Robin Hood did it and became a hero!
He robbed the rich to give to the poor; and his reward has been an immortality of fame, a tithe of which would be thought more than sufficient to recompense a benefactor of his species. Romance and poetry have been emulous to make him all their own, and the forest of Sherwood, in which he roamed with his merry men, armed with their long bows, and clad in Lincoln green, has become the resort of pilgrims, and a classic spot sacred to his memory. The few virtues he had, which would have ensured him no praise if he had been an honest man, have been blazoned forth by popular renown during seven successive centuries, and will never be forgotten while the English tongue endures. His charity to the poor, and his gallantry and respect for women, have made him the pre-eminent thief of all the world.

Yes. The reasoning behind it is that your goods apparently aren't able to be given to the poor. Basically stealing from the rich to give to the poor is showing how selfish you are that you won't give with your own goods.

Yes, because the rich will raise prices costing the poor even more then what you just gave them.

Yes. No matter how justified it might seem.

What *can* be done is to convince the rich to shell out more. Or, of course, government can collect from rich and distribute to poor legally in the form of taxes and benefits...

If you believe in a God, then yes all of them consider stealing wrong and none make any exceptions.

IF you do not believe in a God, why worry about sin.

Lastly regardless of sin it is illegal and you will have to face justice and I am certain the "robin hood" defense will not fly.

What part of "Thou Shalt Not Steal" do you find difficult to grasp? You may also have heard of the truth that "the end does not justify the means".

Yes. Of course if most rich would actually practice their faith (instead of just telling others to do so) and share with their fellow man it would become a moot question.

No, esp. when the poor person should be getting off his/ her butt and getting at least a part time job.

Teach him how to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.
