Try to avoid daily washing. The sebaceous glands are over stimulated, secreting more grease onto the hair. This creates a vicious circle where the more you wash is the greasier it becomes.
Another problem with regular washing is that although the roots are greasy the rest of your hair is stripped of oil and the ends become dry and brittle. Use a mild ph-balanced shampoo and wash hair without rubbing the scalp too much. Try using a children's shampoo as these are often mild enough for greasy hair.
Also try shampooing it in cool water and not massaging it too much. Hot water and massage stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands on the scalp, encouraging them to produce more oil!
You should also watch what your diet. Oily and fatty foods can contribute to greasy skin and scalp.

Very often hair becomes greasy because of excessive chemical treatment - that is shampooing it with aggressive shampoos too often, dying it or using aggressive hair care products.
And sometimes oiliness is just a condition of ur hair, for no good reason. ANYWAY:
First step would be to start using more nature-oriented hair care products. I suggest HIMALAYA protein shampoo for oily hair (use it myself and it's very light and gentle with ur hair but cleanses super well) and HIMALAYA protein conditioner which is not greasy and very light too - apply only to ur hair shaft and ends, not to the roots. NEVER wash ur hair in very hot water, that will damage both hair and scalp and will only increase oiliness.
After shampooing and conditioning ur hair - try this easy home made rinse: add 2 tablespoons of cider vinnegar OR 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 10 drops of Bergamot essential oil, 10 drops of Tea-tree essential oil and 10 drops of Rosemary essential oil (these oils help reduce excessive sebum secretion and they dont really make ur hair oily) to a gallon of warm water and do the rinse. Then rinse ur hair a little more in cool water- that will close the hair cuticle. Always let ur hair hang down loose as u're washing it. Gently towel-dry then let air-dry. Comb only with a wooden comb, don't brush.
Try not to use any aggressive hair-gels (check http://www.thebodyshop.com/bodyshop/index.jsp for a good hair-styling product that is suitable for oily hair) and avoid drying ur hair with a blower or ironing it - when u OVERdry ur hair, the scalp will give even more oil, in a protecting reaction.
I know what u mean when u say u have to wash ur hair daily, but try to at least give it a day's break, once a week, or maybe twice if u can - when u don't really have to go out.
That's what helped me:) Good luck!

Washing it every day is the worst thing to do as the natural oils aren't getting a chance to come out. The best thing to do is buy a decent treatment for your hair that you leave on for an hour and that should make your hair go longer without geting greasy

Maybe you are washing it too much? Washing hair everyday is usually too often for your hair to cope with so it produces more oil or 'grease' to replace the normal amount that has been removed. Your shampoo could also contribute to this, if you use a 'cleansing' or 'clarifying' shampoo everyday then this is too harsh to use everyday. If you use a conditioner containing silicone or one that is very thick try replacing it with an everyday one or using less of it.
If it really is just greasy, then buy shampoos and conditioner that suit your problem.
On really greasy days try putting talc in your hair to absorb some of the grease if there isn't time to wash it.
I was given this really really good book on hair that gives you some useful tips for all differents problems and also loads of other ideas for dyeing and styles...it's called Ooh La La Perfect Hair by Susie Galvez. Here's an amazon link for it:

Hope I helped!

Try using a clarifying shampoo. This gets all the build up, oil, product, etc, out of your hair. If you plan on going 2 days without washing your hair, don't use product, or try using very little product. When I don't wash my hair for two days, I go easy on the product on day 1, and then on day 2 I wear it up. Sometimes, though, people do have hair that is naturally oily and are unable to go more than a day without washing. Good luck!

I also have oily hair and skin, and fortunately this issue has improved as I've gotten older. Take a close look at the shampoo, conditioner, and products you use after your shower. Curtail conditioning to every three days. It's ok to wash your hair daily, even if it is a bit of a pain. You can also use plain rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball to blot the oil between washings.

firstly but shampoo's and conditioners specially formulated to treat greasy hair, also when washing it, leave the shampoo and conditioner on longer than u normally would. also use need to use a conditioning mask once or twice a week, to remove excessive grease. try to cut down on the amount of products u use on it, such as wax and gel, hairspray. dont over brush ur hair or run ur hands through ur hair, the oils off ur hands will transfer to ur hair making it greasy. also try to avoid wearing hats as ur head will sweat more. and finally dont wash ur hair too much as over washing it will make the hair produce more oils to replace the oils lost through washing it. so try washing it every other day if possible. to soak up any excessive grease try using a lil talc n powder on the scalp. hope that helps if not might be worth going to ur doctor as ur scalp might be producing to much sweat, so always worth trying! good luck

No!!!! Dont wash it everyday...are you kidding me? Everyone should know not to do that everyday...its bad for your hair, no wonder tis greasy. Only wash it EVRY OTHER DAY. For example: Wash it monday, then skip on Tuesday, then wash it on Wedsaday. Get it?
Everyone should know that by now and if u keep doing that, your hair is going to be bad and even more greasy. Go to wal-mart or CVS and buy Herbal Essence dramam clean shampoo...its designed for oily and greasy hair...
always rememeber....wash hair every other day, not everyday
p.s. dont listen to the people on top of me......they dont know what they're talking about, if u increase your washing hair, it'll get more greasier...go to a doctor and he'll tell you. Everyone shoudl wash their hair every other day

You may just need to continue washing it everyday - some hair types look better if you do.
Also - do you use a shampoo designed for oily hair?
I'd also recommend not using conditioner, at least not every day.
Using a lot of hair product, gel, mousse, etc. will add to the oil too.

You can try leaving products off after you shampoo.
The dryer your hair the less it will grease up.
Let it air dry if you can, that will keep your scalp from getting hot and emitting oils.
Don't brush more often than nec. use a large gap comb.
Sleep in a cooler room, Night sweating is 1/2 the battle.
