Religions are only temporary. Within the next hundred years, as science learns more about our universe, the need for religion will wane. Currently, most people that are religious are only doing what they have been brought up to believe so there is no need feeling spite towards them. The best non-theologians can do is try and educate everyone (religious or not) based on rational understanding of science and eventually religions will fall as they have throughout history.

I will speak honestly and say that I do feel spite towards people who claim to be religious, but my spite is rooted in an incident where I was beaten up by religious people.

I only feel spite when the person is clearly using the religion as a 'crutch' by which to gain some sense of self-importance over another. Using religion to justify degrading others always stinks to me.
On the other hand, beyond the personal abuses, I actually am comforted by the fact that other people have found something that makes them feel 'satisfied'. If I like oranges, and other people like apples, then I understand why apples and oranges exist, eventhough they may seem 'antagonistic' to each other.

Any secure, thoughtful and compassionate person would not feel spite towards anyone who did not personally do them harm. I do know that many athiests feel negative towards people who have religious beliefs. I feel sorry for anyone who feels spite towards someone who has faith. Just because they don't doesn't make them stupid, superstitious or crazy. I don't judge anyone who doesn't have faith, why should they have spite towards someone who does.

Nope.
Live and let live. I resent people trying to push their beliefs on me, and so, I would never try to convince people there is no God. Even though there isn't.
I think aethiests can sometimes make a religion out of being an aetheist because they are so against accepting people no matter what they believe, kind of like zealous Christians.

Yes I think they are being deprived of intellectual honesty. Because of wishy washy wishful thinking. Its a sad thing when fact can be over looked for faith of an alternative. All we can really do to stop it is to educate. Something we are getting worse at as time progresses.

I am both "religious" and "atheist"...I feel spite towards no one, but the intolerant fundamentalist Christians sometimes get me close.

No, I respect them, just as I expect them to respect me.
I wish people would start looking past religion, skin colour and sexuality, and start looking at the poeple. We're all the same...
