This is a very good question, the real question should, when did they stop seeking converts, well i guess the historical "Chosen People"Syndrome has taken them to the point where they no longer seek converts..
In Quran,Clearly Allah took away the status from them, because they refused to do what was expected of them,in my personal view, this chosen one status meant,to be enlightened and enlighten people and do what is lawful..
I am posting the link to Quran and 2 chapters..
You know,if a jew guys marrys a Goyim or a non-jew his children are not considered a "Jew"but if a females marries outside jewish community their children still have right to be called a Jew..
The intresting question is where, when and why did they stop looking for converts..and thats a matter of research, thanks for askign this question,i'll study it Insha Allah

They don't seek to convert people mostly because they understand that it's pretty shallow and often an activity done by those who don't practice what they preach. Converting people should be done by example, for the most part, not chasing ambulances.
Jews do not go around seeing themselves as a "chosen people" as anti-semites believe. There is indeed a profound significance to that, and Christ was a Jew. However, anyone who believes in Christ can become a "chosen people," as well.
The reply by Gazoo below is interesting. He notes that many people convert on their own. I think it's because they don't like the pressure of being converted, and the way that evangelicals tend to turn people off.
I've given a sincere answer, but I don't believe this is a sincere question and the poster does not like Jews, to say the least. He reveals his lack of understanding in the details and shows where he's really coming from.
That'll be the day when he''ll be able to overcome a person such as myself, who presents the facts truthfully.

I don't really know. It might be because they don't believe that Jesus is the Messiah and taught his followers to go and preach the message to everyone. Also I think that there is something fishy about how this whole nation has changed their name several times. First they were Israelites, then they were Hebrews, then they became Jews. Am I the only one that sees something wrong with that? Maybe the modern Jews arent the same as the Israelites that the Bible spoke so passionately about in the Old Testament. I don't know. And don't be tryin to call me a racist either. I'm just confused.

It is believed that those who want to seek out Judiasm will come forward.
What do you mean by "most modern jews have little ancient jewish ancestry"? don't all jews have ancient jewish ancestry?
And furthermore, you are making a generalization by saying "everyone else". Every religion has there own path...
Please clarify.

It is because Jews have acknowledged that people can not convert people. Only God can convert people. And if God wants someone to convert to Judaism, then he will spiritually move them in that direction. This is a concept that most Christians can not come to understand. But I would also say that it does have a little bit to do with being a physical descendant.

For the same reason the Eastern Orthodox Church does not seek them either. Think about it, if Judaism would have sought converts, you would have said that they interfer with man's free will; it is better this way, whoever wants to convert to Judaism or Eastern Orthodoxy, can do it on his on choice and not on brainwash or the will of force.

But it is funny how often you find people converting to it. You see someone on here at least once a week. Probably 5X as often as Christianity or Islam. Maybe they just have a different strategy.

Maybe it's because we Jews are respectfull of other peoples' beliefs.More tolerant, and don't feel a need to enlist others in order to validate our beliefs. Please let me clarify one very important thing. We are called the chosen, because we chose.
