I'm always amazed with people quoting the holy book in their answers.
But I would be very impressed with people that give their own opinions, although still based on their beliefs, which also give a fresh original personal point of view. That would really broaden our horizon.
As for your question, I believe there is Godness in prophets.
But not only them.
There's Godness in trees, air, water, human, animal and universe.
I would not limit the capability of God since God has no limit.
Common ground in all religions and beliefs ? All road leads to God, so no need to argue which roads the shortest or smoothest.. Just do your walk..

Does GOD "Creator of the whole Univers" need to have a offsprings...?
this is the question that need to be answered..
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“O people of the Scripture (Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allaah aught but the truth. The Messiah ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allaah and His Word, (‘Be’ — and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rooh) created by Him; so believe in Allaah and His Messengers. Say not: ‘Three (trinity)!’ Cease! (it is) better for you”
[al-Nisa’ 4:171]
In this verse Allaah referred to ‘trinity and incarnation, and forbade both of these beliefs. He states that the Messiah is only “a Messenger of Allaah and His Word, (‘Be’ — and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rooh) created by Him”. And He says, “so believe in Allaah and His Messengers”, then He says, “Say not: ‘Three (trinity)!’ Cease! (it is) better for you”.

Yehoshua thanks for giving me a chance to come back here and edit my answer. I think I was correct with my first answer. Go to http://www.islamtomorrow.com listen or watch the lecture by Brother Yusuf Estes, a former Christian preacher who converted Islam together with another Catholic priest. He talks about Christianity and Islam and how he became Muslim. The title of the lecture is How Priests and Preachers Enter Islam, and I am sure that it is not hard to find it.
Also, you would find many many many more articles on Christianity. I think you would like the website and him.
Also, it is one of THE BEST Muslim websites . You would see many more links overthere.
In addition, you would find many articles on the website.
There is one talking about Quran and Bible, you might want to read it.
