what is your first reaction when you realize someone has no eyelashes?

i have no eyelashes from (trich) and whenever someone notices and i always try to guess what thier thinking like if im wierd,will they tell everyone? or if they still wanna be my friend ect... and i am especially concerned about what GUYS think like if they still or would go out with me

chickatellamaniac (excuse spelling) my cousin has a disorder that she has pulls all her eyelashes and eye brow hairs out... I love her, but we try and overlook it basically.

totally truthful: I don't generally notice things like that. If you want to overcome this compulsion you can! I have trichotillomania too. I once pulled myself entirely bald.

But not, I just don't have eyelashes and eyebrows.

Honestly, the best thing to do is to be pro-active about it. People tend to judge things that they don't understand. You should try to be open about it, and let people know that pulling your hair is part of you. Complete package deal. So even if people talk about you pulling your hair out, what can they say? You're the one who told them, so even if they try to tease you about it, it won't matter. You were the one who has the personal security to accept that you pull your hair, and that it just doesn't matter that much in the grans scheme of the world.

And most guys won't care about you not having eyelashes or eyebrows... If they do, then they're not right for you. My boyfriends have been perfectly fine with it. After all, they weren't interested in me because I had some neat hair growing out of my eyelids.

My first reaction would be wondering if they have cancer. When they explained trich to me I (if I did not know better, which I do), I may think they were like one of those people that cut themselves.

You have to be sure to explain that its a compulsion like excessive hand washing and not like cutting yourself!!!

Don't worry about it, only stupid people will judge you for that. The people you will want around you are the ones that want to know what they can do to help.

I knew a guy who lost all the hair on his entire body from some disease. It took me awhile to notice, frankly. I did know he was bald, but I assumed he shaved his head. One day, I noticed that he had no hair on his forearms, and then someone told me he'd lost all the hair on his body. I just had the "oh, okay" reaction, and that was it.

However, if you're pulling out all your eyelash hair, I hope you're getting treatment, because you'll need help in order to stop.

I worked with a young lady who had no eyelashes... and I had NO IDEA!! She used liquid eyeliner, and you really couldn't tell.
Most of all, be comfortable with WHO you are, and anyone that's worth anything will see you for who you are, not that you have no eyelashes!!! No matter what, the fact that you're concerned, I GUARANTEE that you're beautiful.... where it really counts... on the inside!!!!!

i cant really imagine someone without eyelashes. but im sure you already know that if youre really self conscious about this you could always get fake lashes. no one will know the difference. besides (and this will sound ridiculously corny) you dont want a friend who doesnt like you because you lack eyelashes.

I know this has got to be hard for you to be going through. They do make nice eyelashes you can put on their. I'm sure a salon or makeup plase can show you how.
Do you see a doctor for this. They may be able to help. Good luck and know you differces are what makes us special.

first impression I would prob not even notice eyelashes.
If I did I would think that had to hurt getting them out.

And eyelashes would have no effect on me going out with a woman.

Having no eyes lashes really isn't that noticable unless you're like really close in someone's face. Why don't you get fake ones? I mean, it much better than not having eyebrows...now that would look weird!
