I have been trying to understand why some people refuse to acknowledge what really happened on 9/11.

People are not stupid. If you present the information in a well prepared format, fully documented, with indisputable evidence, they will see the truth for what it is. There is a catch, even if they see the truth, few may be willing to accept it, as the truth, because it goes against what authority figures have told them.

It would seem we have about 2/3 of our population that have been conditioned to believe and obey what authority figures say, even if it flies against their better judgment for fear of repercussions. In a word, they have been "Broken" by the system, and are now being "Played" by the system.

Think about it !

* As a child, you have to believe and obey in what your parents tell you or you will be punished. Ouch!
* As a student, you have to believe and obey in what your teachers tell you or you will be punished. Ouch !
* As a youth, you have to believe and obey in our police or you will be punished. Ouch!
* As a young adult, you have to believe and obey government officials or you will be punished. Ouch!
* As an employee, you have to believe and obey in your superiors or you will be punished. Ouch!
* As a soldier, you have to believe and obey in your superiors or you will be punished. Ouch !

Few people get through this "Gauntlet" without being broken or at least without incredible fear of authority. How some people manage to stand up to authority, after that conditioning, seems to defy logic. These people have an inner strength that keeps them sticking to their guns, even in the face of danger: They will not cow. They are the "stallions": They are the "Apache" (so proud to live): They are the "unbreakable": They are the ones who demand,
"GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH !"

Psychology Experiment

In the infamous 1961 "Milgram Experiment", test subjects were told by an authority figure to torture a fellow test subject. Two thirds of those told to do so, did so even after the other person begged them to stop: They knowingly did wrong at the master's command.

Research has shown that some percentage of our predisposition to follow authority may be genetically based, not just learned. In order to overcome this tendency, one must have a strong conscience. Those without conscience are sociopaths. I definitely believe the system plays those with weak conscience and strong predisposition to follow authority. Look at how people are manipulated by religion. Even with a strong conscience which is capable of overriding our strong urge to follow authority, people have a difficult time understanding or empathizing with the sociopathic mind. This is the reason, I believe, for people's skepticism against the 9/11 conspiracy theorys. Only extreme sociopathic minds could conceive of carrying out scenarios such as these. But most sociopaths have something very much in common - their need for your pity.
I don't see much of this going on. I personally am not convinced by the various DVD documentaries about the 9/11 conspiracies. And I only see very little of the appeals for my pity by those in power. The Project for a New American Century is certainly real, as is the involvement of certain people in our administration. I think intense greed and sense of entitlement by those in power, and perhaps a sociopathic disregard for other human beings outside the "circle" have more to do with the state of affairs we find ourselves in today.

Your key words were "even if it flies against their better judgment". I feel that I exercise very good judgment and any conspiracy theory flies against my better judgment.
The people you mentioned in your exercise, never showed good judgment, so the actions they took, were could not have been against their better judgment. Their first showing of bad judgment was when they agreed to be a part of the experiment.
If they did it unwittingly, then the person who conducted the experiment, exercised poor judgment. But really, i couldn't give a crap about any psychology experiment. Here is my answer.

I don't believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy by the Bush government, or that they were taken down by controlled demolition. so, I must be in your 2/3 bracket.

What amazes me is that a handful of wacko's can come up with a theory and 2/3 of the mindless drones in this country believe it. Even though the same 2/3 probably witnessed at least one of the planes strike on live television. They also were told by the conspiracy wacko's to ignore eyewitness accounts, and studies by independent investigators and a years long bi-partisan study which concluded as to who the culprits actually were.

Any unrelated events can be taken out of context and cobbled together to create a seemingly coherent event. Its called a fantasy. Or a psychosis.

Perhaps you can't understand why 2/3 of the people don't believe it , is because the 2/3 are correct.

i don't accept as true with that. i think of NEOCONS love this united states yet are defective. They keep in mind the days while usa of america replace into #a million in each and every thing and are annoyed that we've, over the final many years, lost that dominance. and that they experience that we would desire to continuously continuously be kicking someones *** who they stumble on is a reason for that loss of dominance. notwithstanding if, that's an fairly Joe McCarthy - like techniques-set. They stumble on Muslims like Nazis attempting to take over the international, that's absurd. that's not anti-American yet very lots the different; that's patriotism to an intensive severe and that's much extra risky.

Everyone knows that Flight 93 was shot down & exploded over a large area. There was never any footage of the wrecked airplane. The coroner himself said he never saw a drop of blood. Are we supposed to believe that everyone & every piece of wreckage was incinerated beyond recognition. If you believe that than you also believe Bush is a nice guy. The Pentagon we all know was hit by a missile. No engines no wreckage no bodies no blood except for the innocent workers in the line of flight of the missile. The sooner these Slime balls leave office, the better off ALL mankind will be. Just go to Alex Jones.com or eBay & buy the dvd movie Loose Change. Truth hurts. I can't help it if most republicans can't face the fact that this administration wants to kill us all.

What you fail to comprehend, probably because you are a good person, is that "neocons" are NOT misinformed. They will NOT "convert" to awareness about such issues. They cannot be "convinced" of the truth. And that's because it isn't an issue of being misled or uninformed to them. It's an issue that they AGREE with the ethics of the crime. Survival of the fittest, a sucka's born every minute, might is right, me first, the end justifies whatever means, plunder and disregard for others other than themselves is their paradigm. After Nixon resigned, a common statement said among the neocon types back then went something like this, "What's so wrong with having a vile, nasty, lying cheating President? Wouldn't it be better for our nation to have such a vicious person fighting for us in such a vicious world?" It's absolutely pointless to try to convince neocons with the facts. They LIKE those morbid ethics. Every night here on Yahoo, I hear neocons and Republicans say,"Fire up the gas chambers!", or, "NUKE 'em all!" Dealing with these freaks is going to take more than "educating" them.

I disagree. Many people are quite stupid. Just check out much of the content on Yahoo Answers.

You obviously were not witness to what transpired in New York City on 9-11, and certainly never worked in the World Trade Center. Otherwise, you might know better.

The 91 conspiracy, looks more real then just a conspiracy, it only takes commun sense to see that what the Bush administrations said goes against the stablished physics,it is impossible that two planes take down towers the like of the trade center:
http://911research.wtc7.net/talks/towers/slides.html
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/wtc1_core.html
and is impossible that rookies flying comercial planes could manage to aim these planes and guide them toward the buildings, did they know the adress of the pentagon and feed it to the navegation system to home in it as well as the trade center, it makes me laugh that people is so lame to believe such.

You mentioned something about soldiers getting brainwashed when they join the military. It's possible some indeed do but by the same token there are many more college kids that get brainwashed by University Professors.
By taking advantage of students and abusing their minds by forcing certain beliefs down students' throats, these Professors can be likened to child molestors.

Ever wonder why Academia rhymes with Pedophilia?

I suggest that you seek legal action against your Professors.
