My mother still treats me like a little kid and I can't stand it. She says I'm not aloud to date until I'm 30. I just told her that I'm going to be married before I'm 30 so I certainly have to start dating before then. How can I convince my mom that I'm not that helpless 5 year old anymore and that I'm a mature teenager?

I'm 15 but my mom's a little overprotective. My friends were aloud to date way before now...I know I shouldn't be dating because my friends are. The only reason I want to date is so I'll have someone to talk to and someone I feel comfortable with.

you are getting close to the age of dating..lucky you...but mom is right..if something happened and your date wanted to do something you didnt want to what then..he may kick you out of the car and strand you if you made him mad..or he might decide to drink then try and drive...i wanted my daughter to have some control over those situations...so i had her wait til she got her drivers license at 16..she could have a b/f..and he could come to our house..we want to know the people we are trusting our most precious child with..it is a matter of love..and no one will ever love you more than your mom does...try and be patient.. the older you get the wiser you get..

I'm sure when your mom said you can't date till you are 30 she was only joking, I do the same thing with my son. Sit down and have a talk with your mom and ask her questions about dating and when she really thinks would be an appropriate age to start dating. Ask her what you would need to do to prove to her that you are mature enough to start dating.
Good Luck

At 15 you are still to young to date your mum is only trying to protect you cause she loves you do you know what that mean your mum would give up her life for you a mothers love for a child is powerful listen to her and don't dismiss her views and yes you are helpless cause without your mum you wouldn't have a roof over your head cl others on your back food on the table or are you telling me you provide all these things.

you are obviously not old enough to date when you post the same question 3 times like a couple minutes apart

NOT KNOWING HOW OLD U R NOW, I WOULD HAVE TO SAY U CAN SHOW HER THAT U R MATURE ENOUGH TO GO OUT AND BE TRUSTED. WHICH MEANS U WOULD HAVE TO HAVE ALL OF UR GRADES UP, CLEANUP, ETC. ANOTHER THING U HAVE TO REALIZE, THERE'S ALOT OF THINGS TO BE AWARE OF IN THE DATING GAME IN THIS MILLENIUM. SO JUST ENJOY HAVING FRIENDS (IN MY OPINION)

Date in groups, it's more fun, and more acceptable to mom.
Dating at fifteen, alone with a guy, isn't neccessary for a relationship at that age.
She's thinking of you, respect it.
You wont be fifteen for very long.
