i started dating this guy recently,we have not been intimate yet and just the other day he told me that he was diagnosed with syphlis.he didnt tell me what stage he was in all he said was that he had already gotten a shot for it and was going back to see his doctor to check if he's clear of it.my question is....can he pass it on to me even if we use a condom or does a condom reduce the risk of him passing it on to me?

Syphilis is curable with a shot of penicillin. As long as he received this treatment, he should be free of disease. If he were to still have syphilis, condoms would reduce risk of transmission, depending on where the lesion was, etc. However, having syphilis does increase the risk of having other STDs, so you should always use condoms.
EDIT: Syphilis is a bacteria which is why is can be cured with antibiotic. It is not a virus.

A condom can reduce the risk of him passing it on to you. But remember condoms can burst. I personally would wait until he was in the clear before becoming intimate.

condoms REDUCE the chances of getting it passed on, but never a guarentee. since this is a virus,it will take a while to clear so i'm not sure how much rush your in to have sex, but i'm sure it can wait

it reduces the risk but sweetie don't go there wait along time and before you do... see the actually medical report should your relationship become serious cause apparently he hasn't been practicing safe sex in the past, you both can go to local clinic to be checked together for stds
