Sleep apnea is a big problem, during your sleep you stop breathing. The reasons may be psychological (i had something like that) or physical (due to breathing problems or obesity). I used to dream that someone asked me to stop breathing and when you are close to "fail" due to lack of oxigen, you wake up. Its horrible.

It's when your sleeping and you forget to keep breathing. It's a dangerous condition you can die from it, most people who know about their apnea have a ventilator machine that they wear in their sleep so they don't quit breathing.
