Do you mean at what point in history did obesity begin? Or do you want to know when does a persons body mass index put them in the category of obesity?
I assume that, historically, when man was able to cultivate crops raise livestock and preserve food, the incidence of obesity increased.
As far as body mass index (BMI), a person is considered obese when their BMI is 30 or greater. BMI is a measurement of your height to your weight. Specifically, it is your weight in kilograms (pounds divided by 2.2) divided by your height in meters squared.
A BMI between 18.6 and 29.4 - healthy weight
25 and 29.9 - overweight
30 and 34.9 - obese
35 and above - morbidly obese
Search BMI calculator for an easy way to find yours.
Obesity is devastating to your health, increasing the incidence of hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, joint disease and many types of cancer.

Growing up in the 60's obesity was there but rare.
I think obesity started with the emergence of fast food restaurants, video games, remote controls, snow blowers, tracker lawn mowers, and the computer.

There has always been obesity. A very long time ago you were considered a peasant if you were thin. Only rich women were larger and considered beautiful, and it was portrayed in a lot of paintings. Now everything is flipped the other way and only thin people are considered beautiful. One day it might flip again.
