If you're doing this to lose weight the you are out of luck. Many vegitarians end up eating a lot of pasta and rice (too much) and end up actually gaining weight. Drew Barrymore lost weight when she quit being a vegetarian and started to eat meat for this very reason. However if your doing it for persoanl beliefs, go see a registered dietician, and they can give you great ways to get all you nutritional requirments without becoming bored with meals. A good mulitvitamin is needed by almost everyone, wegatarian or not. Good luck an I hope you're doing this for the right reasons!

Taking pills will depend largely on your age and what kind of Vegetarian you wish to become (the chart on the attached wikipedia link ought to help there). If you are still in your teen years, you'll want to take B12 (if you're not adding dairy products to your diet). Beyond that just about everything you need can come from fat.
To be a successful vegetarian, you'll want to study nutrition so that you know what vitamins and minerals you need in a day and which food sources are best to accomplish it. Most nutritionists suggest eating a variety of different kinds.
I have known a number of "vegetarians" who eat nothing but carbohydrates and the occasional salad. These people are not strict vegetarians in any sense of the word and do not lose weight.
You may find yourself losing weight as you start on your journey. Eventually this will stabilize. Be sure to stay active during this too.
I'm not exactly a vegetarian, as I only consume Chicken and Fish. My husband is a vegetarian and it has definitely added some interesting tastes to our diets. Our children are being raised in a mixture of the two. Bear in mind that the growing body needs a variety of foods.

Consult a nutritionist to ensure that you are eating a very balanced diet. The biggest mistake that a vegan or vegetarian will make is not in taking enough minerals like calcium, iron and not getting enough protein.
Make sure you are supplementing you diet with plenty of tofu, nuts and beans, generally anything in the legume family. If you are excluding dairy you may want to take vitamin D and Calcium supplements.
There is no guarantee you will slim down, you can still eat a high calorie high fat vegetarian diet. Just cutting out meat does not make it healthier. Losing weight will depend upon what you are actually eating and your activity level.

No U don't need any pills for protein. Just eat more greens and grains. Also eat more fruit!
I gained weight becoming a vegetarian. I gained alot. Why? It was cause when I was a meat eater... meat was clogging my arteries.
I however didn't become vegetarian for health reasons. It was because of Meat being to expensive but I found myself healthier on a vegetarian diet so I remain a vegetarian!

You can take a protein supplement in the form of powder. Or you can find protein in non-meat sources like beans, tofu, whole grain items, nuts, certain vegetables, dairy products, and eggs (if you are going to eat dairy products and eggs; I am a vegetarian and I do).
You can loose a couple pounds after becoming a vegetarian. I lost weight probably because I have eaten a lot more vegetables to feel full, and veggies have less calories than meat products.

First, why do you want to become a vegetarian? If it's to lose weight, don't count on it. There are a whole heap of calories in fruits.
Get TVP (textured vegetable protein) and enjoy the taste of meat without eating meat. You'll be surprised how much it tastes like real meat - and full of protein.

You do not need to take any pills or anything.
If you are still going to be using dairy products & eggs you should have no problem getting enough protein. Also soy products contain protein as well as certain kinds of beans. There are alot of books out there that will show you how to do this and stay healthy. As to losing weight that varies by person and is probably related to how meat heavy your diet is now.

I never lost weight as a vegetarian, in fact, I gain weight. The reason is, I'm relying more on carbs than before when I ate meat, and could eat more protein.
You'll need to identify protein rich foods like hard cheeses and beans.

Many people ask me how they can slim down. I recommend that people eat right and exercise. However, if they would like a little "help", I suggest using natural Hoodia (it's important to note that not all Hoodia works well, even if the bottle says "pure" or "standard").
The Hoodia sold at http://tinyurl.com/y389on is in my opinion the best Hoodia on the market. It's pure, has no side effects, and they give you a free 15 day sample (there is a $7.99 shipping and handling charge, but they also give you free recipe and diet guides). Fantastic results have been seen with this particular Hoodia.

no you just need to eat healthy foods like pasta, pizza, vegetables, fruit... after a while you just get used to not eating meat. and if you are craving meat then just remind yourself what you are eating. that always keeps me away. as for weight you will still need to exercise if you want to drop a few pounds, but other than that you loose a ton of weight.
