wow, okay. for real now. when i was younger, there were 2 local chinese restaurants that were closed up for serving cat, possum, groundhog, and other weird stuff. they were found in their freezers during a surprise inspection.
now that im older, the few times ive gone to chinese restaurants, i order general tso's chicken. i dont like the other things at all. but some places, the "chicken" is like, gray and shiny. i have never seen gray, shiny chicken, it is always white and textured.
does anyone know anything about this?

In China, there are many kinds of chicken. Gray chicken is one of the better kinds of chicken that would be good to health.
Cooks pour extremely hot oil on the chicken that served on the dish to make it taste, smell and look good. That is one of the famous dishes of chicken, Oily Chicken with Green Onions

In defense of the Chinese, I must say that real Chinese restaurants serve real chicken. I've been living in Asia for 10 years now, and can tell that the chicken pieces in food are really chicken. It so happens that the Chinese restaurants in US feed you not the real Chinese food, but what they think you would like.
If you wish to eat authentic Chinese food, do one of two things. Either get to know the owner and then tell him that you would like to try the real stuff, and he just might let you have some of what they eat after closing time, or - go to a restaurant which has mostly Chinese customers.
Hey don't knock grounhogs and such :-) I've always said that I'll try anything once. My wife then fed me a field rat - never again....

Oh geezzz. They are using dark chicken meat.. chicken thighs. Most westerner's are used to eating only chicken breast and therefore are not used to the dark meat. Lots of rumours are started by unsatisfied customers (poor service? attitude??). Do you know how hard it would be to try and catch possums, groundhogs and wild cats to serve to the public?? Imagine how many they'd have to catch to serve the public? I can just imagine all these waiters doing overtime with their rifles and traps hunting in the wee hours of the night....not very time efficient if you ask me.

if it's in the US, thehealth department inspects. if they were serving possum, you'd know it because the shop would get closed.
white chicken comes from the breast and wings, dark chicken from the rest of the bird.
have you never seen chicken thigh meat?

some chinese restaurants in my area add tofu to the chicken.
Oh and also, the white processed chicken meat is usually bleached for the white that the consumers like.

Just remember, chicken is cheaper than cat. If they want to make a profit, they will use chicken , real chicken.
Maybe grey and shiny is---- turkey. Those can be substituted for chicken.
