I lost my voice on christmas day 21 days ago...along with some sort of congestion and bad cough with the green mucus... I never went to the doctor but it all cleared up. What is happening now is semi hoarse voice(It was getting better but has not really improved in the last 3 or 4 days) and a tickle in my throat when I talk that makes me cough...and every morning a little phlegm. Should I just keep waiting it out? I should mention that before this I literally had not been sick in 5 years... not a thing so i was thinking my body was having trouble fighting all this off....Any Doctors out there?..Thanks!

It's not surprizing your voice is hoarse after all that coughing, which causes your vocal cords to slam together, causing irritation and swelling. The swollen vocal cords make it feel like something is stuck in your throat when nothing is there.
You need a period of voice rest to allow your cords to heal. It includes:
1. no coughing
2. no throat-clearing (swallow instead)
3. no laughing
4. no yelling
5. no loud whispering
6. no humming
7. no singing
8. speak as little as possible
Drink cool (NOT cold) water to soothe your throat.
If symptoms persist after 2-3 weeks, see an otolaryngologist (ENT).

ou need to see a doctor. The flu that is going around is a nasty one. It lasts forever. Tons of people are getting secondary infections like pnemonia and bronchitis. drink alot of water and get some Guaifenesin tablets. Are you running a temp? ENT a ear nose and throat specialist. not even a low grade temp like 99

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection . Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience.
