If indeed second hand spoke is a health hazard to children, then should there be a law prohibing exposure of children at home and in automobiles. If there was such a law, could child protective services remove a child from such exposure, since a child cannot choose whether or not to be in such a situation like that?

second hand smoke is dangerous to young children. They can easily get lung cancer , asthema and other health related problems. The best bet is stay away from children when you smoke.

I have a neighbor who smoked through her whole pregnancy (drank beer also ) . I told her and her OB told her she was endangering her baby to being below normal birth weight and would also have lung problems. Did she listen...no! Did the law or CPS take her baby away after it was born, no....why? Because there is no law on the books that prohibits a pregnant mother from just smoking....despite the proven dangers she is imposing on her fetus. The baby was born at under 5#, and with lung problems...big surprise. She continues to smoke around the child who continues to have lung problems...anyone care?... not that I can see. The biggest farce is she paid $15,000.00 for fertility treatments so she could get pregnant!
As for second hand smoke which is what the chld has to be in now...of course it is dangerous...you might say the baby has taken up smoking very early in life....And not her choice!

I think prolonged second hand smoke can affect childrens health. But, so do many other things. I do NOT think there should be a law for smoking in your own home or vehicle. If people keep asking for laws like that eventually no one will have any control over their own life.

Well I am a smoker and yes I agree there should be laws to protect our children against 2nd hand smoke. There is 3rd hand smoke statistics now too. The toxins and chemicals in the cigarettes are found to "come out" of ones pores onto their skin and clothing, therefore passin it on to pets and all people you come into physical contact with.

Yes it is dangerous and more so than first hand smoke because they are not breathing it in filtered. Actually some states are working on making it illegal to smoke in your home or car if you have children. It can cause asthma, allergies, heart conditions, and other things in childre.

yes second hand smoke is dangerous. Financially the government could not support taking that many kids away from that many stupid parents. Second hand smoke is also dangerous to your pets.

I don't think that child protective services have that kind of power, the second hand smoke issue hasn't taken flight just yet.

ahhh, second hand spoke, well - - if it is hearsay then I guess it's second hand spoke, just like gossip, and of course that can be dangerous to children, especially if it's about their parents. oh, did you mean smoke?

yes. second hand SMOKE kills more than smoking itself. asthma, lung problems, etc. are all problems from second hand smoke. i think there should be a law, but i don't think there is. parents shouldn't smoke around their children if they love them.
