I dont know what bull riding events yall watch but in the ones i do the bulls are treated VERY well. I watch the PBR (pro bull riding) and some of the animals on there are worth over $100,000. I have never seen the bulls hurt in any sort of way....why would you hurt something you paid so much money for???? After the man is bucked off the bull the rope that is tied around the bull falls off!!! There is NO pain to the animal. And it is against the rules to dig your spurs into the bull. There is never any blood on the animal whatsoever!!! You ppl need to get your facts straight!!
I only watch the American version....i dont know nor care what other ppl do in their country!!!!

I'm vegetarian and love bull riding. The bulls are wonderful athletes who know exactly what they're doing and enjoy the heck out of doing it. Here is a tribute to one of the best of all time:

I am.
"Like the victims of bullrings, the huge size and fierce appearance of a bull makes him the perfect target for animal abusers. Rodeos know they can fool many people into believing that the bull is impervious to pain. Nothing could be further from the truth. Furthermore, bulls were never ridden in ranch work.
Typically it is bulls who receive the worst abuse from electric shocking in rodeos. Cows are particularly sensitive to electricity, and rodeo animal abusers use that to their advantage to make calm, docile bulls appear to be wild killers.
The shocking device is an easily concealed device. Although small, the electric prod delivers 5,000 volts of extreme pain. Rodeo animal abusers often shock their victims repeatedly before releasing them, driving them wild with torment. SHARK offers money to rodeo people to take a shock from the same device they use on their victims. These supposedly macho "cowboys" always refuse!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
@ thebusstop69: "Don't know, but if they are then they are extremely dumb. Because what does bullriding got to do about being a vegan? They should be happy that they arn't being ground up."
- That was the stupidest most uninformed statement I have seen on here in a long time.
@ angelsgurl_06:
”I dont know what bull riding events yall watch but in the ones i do the bulls are treated VERY well.”
- No, they aren’t.
I” watch the PBR (pro bull riding) and some of the animals on there are worth over $100,000. I have never seen the bulls hurt in any sort of way....why would you hurt something you paid so much money for???? “
- Of coarse they don’t show it on TV. How naive are you? Bulls don’t buck and freak out for no reason, they are hurt to do this, otherwise they would not behave in this manner.
“After the man is bucked off the bull the rope that is tied around the bull falls off!!! There is NO pain to the animal.”
- Again, there obviously is.
“ And it is against the rules to dig your spurs into the bull.”
- Then why wear them? That’s the point of spurs.
“ There is never any blood on the animal whatsoever!!!”
- When was blood deemed the indicator for pain? Someone could punch you in the stomach 20 times and you would not loose a drop a blood. Does that mean it did not hurt?
“You ppl need to get your facts straight!!”
- I don’t think we are the ones who are confused.

I'm not veg*n, but I am against bull riding. Mainly because the act of riding a bull serves/served no purpose what-so-ever. I can understand alot of the other sports in a rodeo, like steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing, bronc busting and such because they actually serve/served a purpose in the ranch industry. But bull riding is a senseless sport, IMO. The participants get nothing out of trying to "subdue" the bull, and the bull is put through a time of senseless stress and anger.
The only enjoyment I get out of watching bull riding is when the "rider" gets thrown off befor the 8 seconds is up, and the bull retaliates against any of the people in the ring with it(but only if no one gets hurt, I wouldn't enjoy watching a person getting gored, just like I don't enjoy watching an animal be submitted to being "broken" over and over and over again).
And you think that having a rope tied around his balls isn't painful?

I'm completly against it, first off I doubt the bulls have any say in the matter. A foregin exchange student from Spain came to my school last year and he told me that when they have bull riding shows over there, after the show is over they kill the bull...I also hate when people give the riders sympathy! Bulls are wild creatures and I bet they don't like getting beat up and intentionally pissed off.
Yes I'm a vegetarian.
Someone said somethign to the extent of "What does someone being a vegan have to do with riding bulls?" most vegetarians/vegans change their diet because they find it wrong to eat animals. I am one of those people.

Of course! I'm a vegetarian and a member of PETA. Bull riding is animal cruelty, and it's not a nice sport (if you can even call it sport).
Typically in bull riding, contestants vie to see who can have the most violent and dramatic ride. The events begin with the bulls being restrained in tiny chutes and having ropes with bells tied around their midsections and other ropes tightened around their sensitive abdominal areas. Contestants often pull the ropes back and forth over the bulls’ abdominal areas, rubbing the skin raw, which make the rope tied there even more painful. It is common for bulls to be shocked repeatedly with electric cattle prods while in the chutes. When the chutes finally open, the bulls run and buck in an attempt to escape the torment—to the crowd, the bucking bulls appear only to be angry at the riders on their backs. To me these are really good and valid reasons to be against bull riding.

As a vegan for one year and vegetarian for ten, I am against bull riding. To get the bulls to buck on queue, the rodeo organizers use "bucking straps", which is a strap made our of leather or rope. It's cinched extremely tight around the bull's abdomen, and many times, burrs or other objects are placed between the strap and the bull's skin. The bull bucks because it's trying to get the strap off. Top this off with being prodded by an electric rod and kicked with spurs to further agitate the bull. The strap can leave lasting effects on the bull such as burns and open wounds. So is this abuse? Is it wrong to inflict pain on another living, breathing creature for our entertainment? I feel strongly so...and it's not just because I'm a vegan. And incidentally when the rodeo is done with the animals, they end up being ground up for our pet's food or other animals' feed. A bull is beef after all.

Why do humans have a need to use animals for our own sick entertainment? It's not right and should be stopped, this includes bull riding, circuses and zoos. I am a vegetarian. I agree with Brainstorm.

Have you ever watched the way the bulls are treated before they are bought out to be ridden?? They are kicked and zapped in small cages to annoy and anger them just to provide a better show for the low-lifes that find it amusing to watch someone on the back of a bull that is in obvious distress! It is a disgusting and immoral sport! Anyone curious about the mistreatment of these animals should look at PETA.com and ALV.com. They expose the disgusting way the bulls are treated for our amusement...
