There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.
Luckly there is a cure for herpes https://tr.im/ca59a

Yes my son was just a little boy and someone with a cold sore kissed him (herpes) and he has had this since he was a small child and if he got stressed out from and exam at school or something went wrong in his personal life he would get this big embarrassing herpes sore on his lip so don't kiss no one or have oral sex while having this because it is transmittable. Not saying your going to have oral sex, but it's for your information farther down the road to protect others. Please be careful.

If you have a 'cold sore', you have Herpes Simplex A, and oughtn't kiss anyone, share bottles, cans, or glasses, or cutlery with anyone until the sore is COMPLETELY gone, lest YOU infect someone else! You have a chronic infectious disease, and a responsibility to not pass it on to ANYONE else!
If you'd kiss 'ANYONE', (on the mouth... this goes double if you kiss genitals!) you certainly will catch SOMETHING -- 'flu, pneumonia, glandular fever (aka 'mononucleosis')... pretty much ANY infectious disease that is spread by contact of bodily fluids. I suggest you be discriminating in whom you kiss, and where. When it comes to infectious disease vectors, 'saliva-borne' is pretty bad, though it's not 'airborne'. WASH with disinfectant soap, regularly, and, if you are concerned about 'catching anything', assume the worst and take no chances.
OF COURSE diseases are passed by kissing. Since Herpes Simplex A can be transmitted by you, to someone having a sip from your cola, it stands to reason that NO ONE should kiss (let alone share other bodily fluids, or needles, etc) with anyone whom s/he does not know to be completely healthy.
Uh... DUH??

Yes, sexual herpes. And if you or whoever you are kissing has any cuts in their mouth (like after flossing) you can transmit all blood related diseases which includ most STIs.
Your cold sore however can be a normal occurrence. Mouthsore cold sores are herpes too but a non-dangerous type, herpes simplex.

I'd be more concerned about being kissed by someone with a cold sore, as they're usually caused by one of the types of herpes viruses.
Kissing and other ways to exchange bodily fluids are excellent ways to transmit mono, hepatitis, and just about all other infections diseases.

If you kiss someone with a cold sore you cold get a cold sore which is the Herpes virus. More worryingly if someone with a coldsore gives oral sex they can pass on the virus and the recipient is left with genital herpes.
Nice hey?
