I am baking a prepackaged mix of chocolate chip cookies tonight, I dont have time to go to the store and I dont have any eggs. I am supposed to use 1 egg for every pouch ( I am only using one pouch). Is there anything else I can use as a substitute for the cookies instead of eggs? ( I heard that for a low cholesterol option you can use applesauce, but in what amount?)

Thanks...

Yes, you can use 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce per 1 egg.
You can also use 2 tbsp corn starch per 1 egg. If it is a bit dry, you can simply add a bit of water until it is the consistency you want.

Honestly, I have found that most chocolate chip cookies do not even need eggs. I add water for consistency and end up with great cookies.

ps. 1 banana = 1 egg for cakes, but you can also use the corn starch

:)

1/4 cup of applesauce equals one egg.

Also, here are some other things I use as egg replacers:

NUMBER ONE

- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 tablespoon of flour
- 1.5 tablespoons of water

NUMBER TWO

- One tablespoon of Cornstarch
- Two Tablespoons of Water

NUMBER THREE

- 1/4 cup of soy yogurt

NUMBER FOUR

- 1/2 banana blended or mashed well

NUMBER FIVE

- 1/4 cup blended silken tofu
