are Chihuahua's really yappy? We used to have a Rat Terrier and she just barked all day long! I can't stand that.

Shih tzu all the way.
Their personalities on a whole are much more even tempered than the chihuahuas or the papillons. Chi's can be very nasty and defensive of their owners. Papillons are nervous, and shih tzu's are just nice little dogs.

Chihuahuas are the best. I don't like the smooshed up faces like a shih tzu has. A papillon is nice too.

Shih Tzus have ugly smooshed faces :(
If you get the right type of Chihuahua it looks just like a Papillon, so I'd go for the c dog.

Chihuahuas are smarter and easier to house train . Mommy has a papillon and it is 9 months old and is still pottying in the house . My chi picked it up in 2 weeks . Chi s are very clingy though and want to be with you all the time so unless you are willing to get accustomed to this skip the chihuahua . good luck whatever you decide and hope I helped.

Without a doubt the Papillon (Butterfly). Shih Tzu would be 2nd choice only because of the grooming regimen. Chihuahua's are the only breed I know of that You can offer a bit of meat to that will take the meet & bite your hand before you can withdraw it !

Go to YAHOO! and type in "dog breed selector" Several questionnaires will come up. They will ask you about your lifestyle and preferences. This should give you a good idea about the breed good for you. Once you get it narrowed down, go to akc.com and look at the breed standard. then you may want to volunteer at a shelter or rescue so you can meet the dogs in person and see if you connect. Another resource might be to go to a dog show. Whatever you do, don't go to a pet shop or a backyard breeder

I breed Shih Tzus, and I think that they are so wonderful. I have only seen one "mean" one in my life, and I think it was more spoiled than anything else!
If you want more information about the breeds, go to the AKC website and check them out. There is also a link to the websites for the breed specific clubs for these breeds. They can give you more information on them.

I think my Shih tzu is the best. I have a shih tzu and she is so gentle with my niece who has a disabilty.

shih tzu is better but i don,t know a bout a papillon. and a chihuahue is like the toco bell dog that,s who i see it.
