This does mean you are anemic. However, the simple tests they use at blood donations does not provide you with information of exactly how anemic you are. If you have had a normal results in the past, the most likely explanation for a woman of reproductive age is loss of blood with a period. However, there are other explanations. If you do not have enough iron in your diet (usually vegetarians), have another vitamin deficiency, or are losing blood through another source (ie in the gi tract), are chronically ill, etc. You can take over the counter iron supplementation which will help replace the iron lost. However, you should mention this to your doctor at your next appointment. They can do further tests which will tell them the degree of you anemia or if it has resolved all together.

You're anemic and so you will have to eat a lot of iron-rich foods like liver and green veggies. Your best advice would be from the doctor, though. Take care and good luck.
