after u call 911(usa) or 999(uk),immediately have patient chew 2 aspirins,to prevent blood from clotting, which could prove fatal.chew, dont swallow,so it enters blood stream faster.have patient then cough and continue to cough till ambulance arrives-the action of coughing can save the patients life by keeping blood pumping.if patient loses consciousness, start chest compressions and resue breathing,15 pumps on chest-one rescue breath,15 more pumps, etc. do not stop cpr untill paramedics walk into house to help u.oh-and,after u give the aspirin, while the person is chewing them, quick run to the front door and open it for the paramedics !if the person fell and lost consciousness immediately, call emergency number, and start cpr immediately.even if it feels like a long time DO NOT STOP untill a paramedic walks in and relieves u.good luck, but i hope u never have to use this!

Be calm...I did observing when my husband had his MI; there was already a cpr registered lifeguard administering help and working with 911...my son was here to help..He had to sit up not lay down...It was very educational and if he needed help we were doing our best...We even had to wait until the next towns' ambulance arrived even though firehall is about two blocks away.

My husbands grandfather had one and everyone flew into panic mode. I tried to calm him first and then the family. I comforted him by placing a pillow beneath his head and a quilt on him. I held his hand and talked softly to him and told him everything would be alright. I didn't know at the time it was a heart attack or I would of given him an asprin. Leesa

Have the patient lie down. Have the patient chew an aspirin. Stay calm. If someone else is present, one person should go out to direct the paramedics to the patient.

If they can talk and swallow, give them one aspirin - that will help to start disolving the clot that is messing up their heart - be sure to tell the paramedics that you gave the patient an aspirin.
