I recently tried to copy around 300 MP3 files to my player using Windows Media Player. It:
a)Came up with an Unknown Error for all of them
b)Deleted all of them from my computer
and
c)Keeps up this behaviour everytime I try it.

I'm a bit mad now cos some of those tracks were RARE and I didn't have CD hard copies. Help...

I've copied from a CD okay, it just won't copy out to a device

Sorry guys, both these answers kinda don't match. The drag/drop in win explorer works perfectly, it's just Windows Media Player that has lost it. Plus my version hasn't been upgraded after it worked before (I don't have the web at home). The only change was me running Disk Doctor and Defrag. The reason I wanted to use WMP was cos I can copy a random playlist rather than knowing what I'm copying.

Digital Rights Management (DRM)!!!

Don't touch WMP with a 100 foot pole! If you think WMP is bad, just try using Zune. All of my un-DRMed files were hijacked by Zune and are now unplayable on my iPod.

If you want an agnostic player, use WinAmp... the classic player that still works well and will always have a committed following. Otherwise, join the heard and switch to iTunes. There is no denying that iTunes/iPod is the most popular program/music player in the world. With that much attention & resources being devoted to the single focus of a great music playback experience, why bother with WMP???

Welcome to DRM

You must have the new WMP, it automatically checks for licenses on those MP3's, and guess what, the New MS Vista will be even worse.

I refuse the WMP upgrade for that reason, I have the physical CD's that i have converted to MP3's and WMP did the same thing to me.

Suggestion, find and use another Media Player but be sure that you understand the workings and know if it will do what you want.

Your MP3 player should show up in My Computer as an external Hard Drive drag and drop the music files into that drive and if there is a specific folder for the music player place it in there :)
