Plants do not have a nervous system, therefore they do not think or feel or have emotions, so there are no moral issues with regards to eating plants.

Eating meat however is an entirely different issue, if it is wrong to kill and eat a human being then what makes killing and eating an animal any different?

Remember that we are only the DOMINANT species on this planet, we are NOT the SUPERIOR species, animals are not below us and do not exist with the sole purpose of becoming a meal.

Plants do not scream and run all over the place if you chase them with a steak knife.

Also you can use a plant without killing it. Pick an orange and the tree keeps going. Fruit is made as a method of seed dispersion. However, if I saw off a lamb's right leg, it's probably not going to live.

It causes more harm to eat animals... because they also eat plants. When you eat an animal, it ate plants too, so you are still responsible for killing both. It's a food chain thing.
Think about it! if you don't eat animals, you remove one step of harm by just eating the plants.
The amount of resources (plants, freshwater, etc.) that it takes to raise an animal is enormous, so there's less of an environmental impact, too.

Because the production of meat kills way more plants than being vegetarian. By going vegetarian, you kill fewer plants.

Because plants are sustainable/renewable. Does your lawn die when you mow it? You ever heard of anyone being able to weed their garden just ONE time?

Why do they say that plants are "harvested", but animals are"slaughtered"...that should tell you all you need to know if you are confused as to why vegetarians have made the choice not to eat meat.

Plants where made for people to eat, and they give us the needed vitamins and other things to sustain us. After the flood in Noah's day, people had to eat meat, for there was no plant life around really. God gives man permission to eat these things, as long as we respect them, and use them for food, and not just kill them for pleasure. So it is okay to eat meat, and vegetables. Just do all things in moderation. And don't judge others eating habits, because we all have free will to choose what we want to eat or not.

plants don't have sensory neurons in them so they can't feel pain. humans and animals have basicly the same systems....which means they can feel pain, lonelyness, stress, suffering, ect

plus, a vegetarian/vegan saves around 95 lives a year.....instead of murdering them or supporting the murder of the animals.

I think because plants are more easily renewable, and there isn't the same amount of anguish involved in 'harvesting' them.
