check her temperature; if it is over 102 degrees, you should call your doctor, especially if she is vomiting, has diarrhea, or a bad headache.
children's tylenol is generally fairly safe and effective for fever. ask the pharmacist to recommend a dose for her taking her weight into consideration. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GIVE MORE THAN THE RECOMMENDED DOSE; OVERDOSE CAN BE FATAL. Anytime you medicate your child, write down the time you give the medicine and what her temp was before taking the medicine; then recheck her temp an hour later to see how much the medicine helped. if the medicine does not help enough, you will need to call your doctor. when you call the doctor, be sure to know what her symptoms are, when they started, what you did to help and how well it did or didn't work.
Often children run fevers because they are not getting enough fluids, especially if they are vomiting or having diarrhea. Water is the best fluid to offer; or room-temp 7Up-type soda. Acidic juices are best used in moderation, too much sugar in fruit juices can make diarrhea worse. So encourage water, jello wigglers, etc.
best wishes to you and your little one!

try a cold compress. Like maybe wetting a towel and wiping the face, or a wet sponge to try and bring down the fever. Just simply compress and hold it over the forehead for about a period of 10 minutes at a time, and off the head for 10 more minutes and repeating this procedure until the fever is gone.

You have to be careful. First, call the e.r. and tell them the symptoms and ask the "Nurse" what you should do. TYLENOL., not aspirin of any kind, should be given. Do not put the baby in cold water even cool water could be extremely harmful. As bad as it is, holding your child makes the temp. go up higher. If the Tylenol does not bring the temp down, get the child to the e.r. fast. My son had a convulsion when he was small because of a fever. You just cannot take too many precautions. Pray.

If your child's fever isn't affecting his behavior, you don't need to give him anything to lower it. Offer him plenty of liquids to prevent dehydration, and don't overdress him/her
You can also try to lower your child's fever by sponging him down with lukewarm (not cold) water or giving him a lukewarm bath. Never try to reduce a fever by sponging down your child with rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol can be absorbed into your child's bloodstream through the skin. whether a fever is serious. Your child's behavior is a factor, too, since a high fever that doesn't stop him from playing and eating normally may not be cause for alarm.
If your doctor says it's okay, you can use children's acetaminophen or ibuprofen to bring down your child's temperature. Aspirin can make a child more susceptible to Reye's syndrome in my opinion!
at the end of the day a simple spong down in tepid water with lots of fluids will normaly do the trick!
