Yes you can,it will not hurt anything...My mother use to rub it under my nose and on my chest with a hot cloth or heating pad over me and she would give me some to swallow..Im sure all the youngsters would think it would be bad but the older people use to use Vicks all the time for coughs and colds..They knew a lot more back then..I still do it to this day and it always worked for me....

So i finally tried ingesting Vicks Vapor rub when i caught a very bad cold, I mixed it in with two table spoons of honey and four slices of lemon in a cup of hot boiled water, and believe me it helped me get out of bed i was non stop coughing for 3 days and no over the counter medication help me like that did it didn't cure me it just help me with the bad coughing and made me feel better, i would try it again its my new home remedy so i dont think its that bad to eat it'

My Mother, passed away in 2008, age 92, she made a vicks mustache and ate a dab every night and was never sick. Her profession a registered nurse. My experience has been that eating the vicks before bedtime encases the congestion and it is all expelled in the morning, unlike my Mom I only do this when I get a congestion. I check with my doctor. he told me the product contains ingredients that has been used in food for a very long time but He said he could see no benefits to eating Vicks vaporub

My mom and grandma use to put in a very small amount in hot tea during the winter for us. I still do it n my tea and a lil cold meds when I feel myself catching anything n the next day I always feel better. It does say not to eat it. But I have never had any bad reactions to it in my 25 yrs

The ingredients have changed over the decades. It is NOT okay to eat (ingest) Vicks Vaporub. Camphor is poisonous. What's wrong with you people who think it's okay?

I hope that at the time that I answer this question, you already has taken the child to the ER. Vicks Vaporub has ingredients that has caused some seizures in children when they ingested it. (Camphor)
