I've been hacking for the past 3 weeks, and the doctor can't figure out what is wrong, and doesn't really know how to make the cough go away. I don't smoke, and am very healthy.

Any suggestions, or natural remedies you know of?

Have you had an xray or CAT scan to rule out cancer or nodules? Just because you don't smoke, doesn't mean you can not develop some type of cancer.

Has the doctor recommended that you use a humidfier at night in your room while you sleep? The mist will keep the air from bring so dry which could be the cause of your cough. Also standing in a hot, steamy shower can help with the dryness that you may be experiencing due to the heat running in your house. (Central air or even wood burning stoves dry out the air leaving you dried out as well.

Best wishes!

Please take a teaspoon of pure honey. Add 5 drops of ginger juice and a pinch of turmeric powder. Mix all these thoroughly for 2 minutes. Apply this mixture 3 times a day around the throat cavity area for 3 days. In the first application itself your dry cough will start receding. On the 3rd day you will be completely okay.

Oddly, drinking lots of water works. It worked for me and I'm a pharmacist. DM works for some people, for mild dry coughs. For more severe ones, you may have to take codeine syrup. Check allergies for codeine first.
