Is she sad? Lonely? Happily in a blissful relationship? How does the painting make you feel?

I'm asking because of the six people who have seen it I've gotten varied replies. Thank you in advance for your responce, but please be honest.

jb, of course you can e-mail me some of your drawings. I would love to see them. Or, better yet, you could set up a free LJ Blog and post them there and in the art communities, like Art Expressions, for everyone to see.

Again with the different interpretations? That's a good thing. Whenever most of us look at art how we perceive it depends on where our own head and heart is at the time. But I don't think I would have considered her a hooker. Unless she were lamenting on her life gone wrong, perhaps?

I really can't vote for a 'best' answer here because most of these answers were insightful and sincere. Honest and varied interpretations can't really be graded like a term paper.

Thank you all.

Wats, she looks positively expressionless. That's the saddest thing anyone can feel - nothing.

I stared at the picture for about a minute and settled on "longing", before I saw the caption at the top of the page (believe it or not). She's obviously alone. The bed is made, so it hasn't been recently slept in, which means her lover has not just recently left. She's naked with her hand over her heart and obviously thinking about something.

Longing.

All the lines are leading and bring you to the center of the picture where there is nothing. You notice an empty bed to the left with an equally empty nude on the right. The color blue highlights the girl, who is white. I would quantify it as despair.

It looks as if someone had just seen her standing at the window, and she's pulled back or stepped behind the curtain quite quickly- in my imagination.

But she also looks sad and dreamy, as if remembering a lover and hoping for his return. It's the softest picture you have in your gallery.
Some of your things remind me of Van Gogh, the suns and moons. I liked "Survivor", too.

Nature of Blue: A natural color, from the blue of the sky, blue is a universal color. The cool, calming effect of blue makes time pass more quickly and it can help you sleep. Blue is a good color for bedrooms. However, too much blue could dampen spirits.

she's for sale and contemplating the way out, although at first glance I thought she was waiting for a lover, closer inspection made me think the other. the reason for the mind shift was the barren room.

exactly...longing for the life outside the room

I think this girl wants to be in a relationship but is shying away from it. You can tell she wants to be in one because of the bed in the bedroom and the fact that she's nude. I don't think she's in a relationship, I just think that she just wants to be in one. And I think she's shying away from it because half of her body is hiding from the viewer.
