For our Valentine's party this year we are having a Fairy theme.
Can you suggest some crafts, games, snacks etc... to help me in planning this fun event?
A big thanks from a grateful GS leader!

decorations:
pink, purple, and red streamers, pink napkins, lacey hearts hung on the walls, boquets of roses in red in pink, a few plain tiaras placed out here and there, for a cute shurbery garden fairy theme, place the roses in heart or flower buckets on the tables, tinkerbell or plain fairy plastic plates.

food:
valtenine's punch- red punch, heart shaped cupcakes with edible heart toppers and pink sprinkles, a fairy cake, some apples and cream cheese fruit dip, and some pretzles and popcorn.

favors: little wands form the party store, fairy tinkerbell balloons, little princess fairy tea cups fro the punch, sparly fairy dust ( really powdery glitter mix), tinkerbell pens, fairy wings, a fair doll for each bag, a heart favor bag to put the things in, tiaras from party city. kids can wear them at the party as well as the wings.

crafts and games:

the girls could play fair teaparty and act like real fairies/ princesses will drinking tea ( punch really.....). they can also play bubblemania outside, where the girls have to catch all the bubbles that they blow. some other cool games- the finding fairy gold game, where chocolate coins and golden hershey kisses are scattered about the area. who ever finds the most in the limited ammount of time wins a small prize and all the candy, and then there is musical mushrooms, where you make mushrooms out of brown paper with red spots, and when the music stops, all the girls must try to run to a vacant musroom. since there is not enough mushroooms for everybody, whoever gets out is out for good, and then for every person out a mushroom is taken away, like musical chairs. the last games: fairy ring toss. get plant[s green foam for fake plastic flower holder at franks or another flower shop, and put it in a flower pot. get rings and glue flowers on the side of them to toss. stick short, fake tupli flower in 1-6 large pots. then let the ring toss begin!
some cool crafts to do are fairy paper dolls- buy a cheap book of fairy paper dools and let the girls pick and dress their own, get fairy wash off tatoos, make a disney fairy trivia quiz, play pin the wings on the fairy, and watch peterpan for tink's magic fairy powers!

attire: a tutu if they have one, ballet slippers if they have them, some pink, like a dress, and their brownie vest.

those are some really good ideas for your meeting! good luck.

Hello, I am a fellow Brownie Leader with 6 year olds. For a craft you could have the girls make their own fairies. You could start with a simple paper doll and let the girls decorate wings and clothes made of paper, pipe cleaners for antennas. You could even use small wiggle eyes. For games you could do a pin the wings on the Fairy. Maybe a fairy wordsearch, a search online should lead you to a pre-made one. Maybe a name that Fairy game. I can't think of many particular snacks, but you could use standard snack items and give them special fairy themed names. I hope that this helps. Your troop is lucky to have you!

Tell the girls to arrive in their best Fairy gowns. Get a length of about 5 yards of pink or red construction paper (from the big rolls at a teaching supply store) and use it as "red carpet" leading up to your door step. You and another adult can pose as paparazzi for the girls to make them feel special as they arrive. Use cheap wide ribbon to make Miss Fairy sashes for the girls to wear. And then I loved the suggestion to have them make their own wands as craft projects.

Get the girls into the kitchen for Cupcake making, Stars and Hearts sprinkles. Yes there will be a mess, but just watch their faces and don't forget the camera

crafts- make their own wands/ crowns. maybe even give them a persona and give them matching colors. like fire fairie= red/orange or water fairie=dark blue and light blue.. have them use beads and colored pipe cleaner.

games- the classic relay/change clothes race...or give them things to draw blindfolded.

snacks- 'mystical punch'...colorful cupcakes (maybe let the guests decorate them)...fairy shaped cookies...popcorn (almost everyone loves popcorn...and chex mix, get chex mix, i love that stuff!)

music- upbeat, or fantasy (at times, otherwise it might get boring)...

*hope we helped you...good luck with your party!*

The girls can make their own fairy wings... you just need some wire, coloured paper, scissors and glue. Then you can just tape the wings to their back...
