A cat. The purring has been proven to lower blood pressure in humans and petting a cat relieves stress. Also, they take care of themselves for the most part.
If the guy is younger and needs to be active, a medium to small dog would be good. He'd have reason to get up and go walking or running a couple of times every day.

I agree with everyone that said a Cat. We have a cat and a dog. After my husbands heart surgery the cat was more calming for him. Sometimes you have to try more than one cat.

yea, maybe one would get 3 cats. They will create enough activities in your house or apartment. you wont be thinking about heart attack again. They will calm your nerves. All you have to do is to feed them and take their litter out. They wont bother when you sleep too. good luck.

I thinki an attack trained pit bull would be out of the question. Try a nice fighting fish (tetra)

I was told once that fish would be, not that hard to feed and take care of, also they are peaceful creatures...if you sit and just watch them it is calming for you and helps to relieve the stress level
