Hunger is a normal condition that occurs when your stomach is empty and your blood sugar drops enough for you brain to signal that it is time to eat.

Starvation is what happens when you don't eat, and your body starts to burn protein (muscle tissue) for energy. The condition would take at least a few weeks to develop in an otherwise healthy person.
