This is called an 'ARRYTHMIA' of which there are many different types.
The commonest type in your situation is an innocent Ventricular extrasystole usually, though not invariably, associated with coffee drinking, smoking, stress etc. etc.

This is a PVC or pre-ventricular contraction. They are usually harmless and everyone has them at some time or another. Sometimes they will increase in women going through menopause or with other hormomal issues. They can be brought about by too much caffeine, products with decongestants in them, certain recreational drugs, stress, lack of sleep and momentary lack of oxygen. When they keep happening on a regular basis and you become symptomatic, such as feel weak, dizzy or actaullay have to catch your breath, then it is time to see a cardiologist and rule out any disease processes. To ease your mind you can keep track of how often the happen, what you are doing, how long they last and the intensity or any other symptoms that accompany them and talk to your doctor. But like I said before they are usually harmless. Take care!

Sounds like palpitations - A term often used to describe an irregular heart beat, or the sensation of skipped or extra heart beats. This may be harmless, but it really should be checked out by a doctor.

The medical term is "Heart palpation's". I have this condition, its where your heart gets off its beat because the signal from your brain misfires and throws your heart rhythm off. But it seems to all ways repair its self and its not life threatening, even though you should still be seen by a cardiologist or your family doctor to be on the safe side. Hope this helped :)

There are several terms for it. Arythmia, tachycardia, palpitations or PVC's (I believe that stands for premature ventricular contractions) or PAC's (premature aterial contractions??). They can be anywhere from "no big deal" to "call 911". It sounds to me like PVC's. That's what I have. As long as you're not experiencing pain or shortness of breath its usually nothing to worry about. The best advice is, of course, check with your doctor.

PVC
You either had a bad thought just now or your heart was complaining about not getting enough oxygen.
