yes, slowly increase fiber, slowly increase exercise, stop smoking(if you do), stop drinking ( if you do), slowly decrease saturated fat in the diet, slowly increase water intake, slowly increase leafy greens into diet, control diabetes(if you have it), lower blood pressure, and if after doing all of that by the end of the year and you are no down 20pts at least, go prescription drugs. They work too, and faster but have side effects unlike the above suggestions.

your genetics makes a big difference....then its your eating habits with meat (red especially), dairy, cheese, and then the statin drugs like Lipitor can really knock your cholesterol down significantly. Exercise wont hurt either. So yes it is possible. 239 is borderline high, so if you are at 240, yeah drop it 40 points, ok. If you are at 150, to drop it 40 points is hard. its all relative.

Yes. However, I went on the cardiac diet, exercised, walked and my Cholesterol went up. I ate Cheerios, did everything everyone suggested and nothing. Finally, my cadiologist started prescribing statins, Lipitor, (couldn't take it), Zetia (couldn't take it).....then along came one that I could take and my cholesterol is down 100 points. It is all in your genetics.....
