I wanted to add to tnbadbunny's answer. It is now known that finely ground grains even whole grains are more dangerous to the person with diabetes than sugar and cause big blood sugar sspikes with a rapid fall. Even whole grain breads, crackers, cookies, etc are not that good. Use whole wheat stone ground flour over white, cracked wheat over flour products, and whole wheat kernels (bulgar) over cracked wheat..the fiber is different and more sustained and slow drop the more unprocessed it is. Another exampe would be oat bread or brown rice spagetti.better to use oat groats (as from the plant directly) and brown rice intact. Please see the information in the answer I gave here about the gycemic index and hopefully, you will be sopurred to do the recommendations there for healing as well. MY mom is on kidney dialysis and dying. She has drastically went downhill since starting diaysis..they restrict a lot of foods incluing healthy ones like whioe grains, she has had some surgeries due to the nurses messing up the needles and leading to extensive surgery and bruises in several parts of her body, had three heart attack in 4 months (never had heart problems before)..dialysis makes you 30 times more likely to have heart problems. It is a nightmare. I had a friend die at age 45 from several years of dialysis wreckling her body. If you ever do have to have dialysis, a person feels mkuch better with home dialysis that is done overnight. the longer period of delievery and frequency leads to better blood cleansing and less feeling awful. Takes about 1 hour to set up and 1/2 hour to take down and no driving there and sitting in a chair that uncomfortable. But the good news is if you work hard you may very well be able to reverse it till it gets to that point. Please see the answer it is the result of nearly 30 years of research and study and ghood luck in finding excellant programs. I'll put it in the sources.

No, kidney failure comes about when the diabetic does not take care of their health well and also because the diabetes is poorly controlled.

You should talk to your doctor and a dietician to work together in forming a diabetic food plan that would be good for you and that includes some of the foods you like. They'll include foods that do not aggravate your diabetes.

Diabetes affects all the organs of our body and not particularly kidneys hence we cannot pinpoint and say that diabetes always lead to kidney failure but if a person carefully takes medicine and controls his sugar level then he/she will have a normal full life without any problems. What is dialysis injection ? if you mean diabetic injection you can take all foods except sugar & vegetables which do not contain sugar. If you mean dialysis which is done for kidney failure patients then you should take salt free and protien free foods .

Prognosis Ultimately, chronic kidney failure progresses in most people regardless of treatment. The rate of decline in kidney function depends somewhat on the underlying disorder causing the kidney failure and on how well it is controlled. For example, diabetes and high blood pressure, particularly if poorly controlled, cause kidney failure to progress more rapidly. Kidney failure is fatal if not treated. Survival when kidney failure is severe (sometimes called end-stage kidney failure) is usually limited to several months in people who are not treated, but those who are treated with dialysis can live much longer. However, even with dialysis, most people with end-stage kidney failure die within 5 to 10 years. Most die from heart or blood vessel disorders or infections So with his heart condition , he is probably not going to live 5 years. As feisty as he is probably sooner . Dialysis is a real pain , so look for depression. If you can't really handle it , just turn him over to the county. Yes , you may feel responsibility, but you can't just walk away from your life. From what you say , he brought all this on all by himself by not taking care of his diabetes all along. I know all about these stubborn types. They can drive you totally crazy. You need a group of people to take care of him. What about the rest of the family ? Can't they chip in. If he really gets to you , just play loud heavy metal music for him. That way you can both go crazy at the same time !!!! Tin

Uncontrolled diabetes leads to complications. If you keep diabetes under control, you can avoid damage to your organs. The kidneys may not fail in diabetes. Other organs could go first. Some drugs protect the kidneys.

Diabetes causes about 35% of all chronic kidney disease. High blood sugar levels caused by diabetes damage blood vessels in the kidneys. If the blood sugar level remains high, this damage gradually reduces the function of the kidneys. The new nutrition guidelines discuss how moderate amounts of sugar can be eaten safely. Sugar and starch are carbohydrates that raise your blood glucose level when you eat them. Sugar found in candy and baked goods are called simple sugar. This kind of sugar is digested and absorbed quickly. Vegetables and grains contain starches called complex carbohydrates. Starches have fiber mixed with them that slows down the speed at which your body uses this carbohydrate. For many years nutritionists and diabetes specialists have believed that because sugar is digested and absorbed more quickly than starch, it raises the level of blood glucose faster. Researchers have now found that the total amount of carbohydrates that you eat, not the source, affects blood glucose levels.

This does not mean that you can eat all the cakes and cookies you want. Remember, foods high in sugar are often high in fat and calories and do not satisfy your appetite. Complex carbohydrates are nutrient-dense foods that will satisfy your hunger for a longer period of time compared to simple sugars. By eating enough sugary foods to satisfy your appetite, you might eat too much carbohydrate, raising your blood glucose level too high. For this reason, eating sugary foods in moderation is a key component to a healthy diet. The majority of carbohydrates in your diet should come from complex carbohydrates; but a small amount of sugar can be part of a balanced diet. Remember, moderation and variety. Eat your way to a healthier you!
