I do wish you a lot of luck and I think you have made a very wise decision, wish I could quit....My husband got the patches and my son got the gum...All it really is ,is a helper,it will give you a helper....The bottom line of quitting smoking is you have to make up your mind to do it and tough it out,...these added gums and patches will give you a little support but you got to want too...My one son had patches up and down his arms while smoking...So it will also take some will power on your part im not going to lie to you...I do hope you are strong and carry through with your wish to stop smoking....I wish you GOOD GOOD LUCK!

to me....best way to quit is doing it without thinking and slowly so the body doesn't suspect anything either.

say you smoke a pack a day. get a drawer and make it your cig drawer only. each morning open a new pack and end of the day put any that are left over in the drawer. for 1 week take out a normal full pack and do this routine.

then week two do this routine but after you open the pack...take 1 cig out and leave it in the drawer. do this every day for a week or two.

then remove 2 and repeat.

then remove 3 and so on and so on.

might take months, but you slowly decline off of them, no stress, no illness, cold turkey is worse way to go, patches and gum are just other forms of cigs, nothing more.

plus smoking is all habit and pattern of habit...doing the drawer and removing a few a day becomes a habit in itself...helping the process to stop.

I started smoking for a very stupid reason. when i was in college some guy was smoking next to me. Stupid me thought i would try one and that would be that. Boy was i wrong. i came home for Christmas and my dad warned me that i would get addicted. I just did not listen. I have smoked on and off for the past 9 years. My doc gave me a new drug called chantix. you keep smoking while you take the first pack of of the drug (i think its 10 days) and than you stop smoking, but keep taking the pills until you are ready to stop. My advice for those who smoke or are thinking about it. DONT even have one cig.. once you do you are hooked and for those who already do smoke. STOP. i know its easier said than done, but you will feel better, you will smell better and most of all..you will live lot longer.

i would just use one. i'd go with the patch. be sure to stay away from the generic. i didn't think they worked too well. go with name brand. and get the clear patch it seems to stay on better. it will give you all the nic you need. you can use the gum on top of it but don't think you will see much difference. the first few days will be a little hard but it will get easier...................good luck

Hang in there. If the patch and gum help, use 'em. But the main thing is to keep trying.

I tried quitting for years before I finally made it happen. Been smoke-free for 36 years now.

It can be done.
