I am currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy Program at a local college and just recently became aware that a misdemeanor may hurt me. We have contacted certain people and have not really been given a strait answer. My question is "Am I able to get a State license in Texas with a misdemeanor on my record?" and "Does anyone know of someone who has come across this??" My misdemeanor was NOT a "conviction" and I've been told that only convicted misdemeanors will prevent one from getting a licence. I have been turned down for 2 jobs already and things are starting to get scary. PLEASE HELP!!!

You have no worries at ALL. A misdemeanor that your not convicted of. You went to court over it but U were not convicted for it or it doesn't show on file. The answer to your question is YES u will be able to get Ur State license in Texas.
I don't know bu about 6 people in Texas that have not been convicted of misdemeanors. TX. over looks that, a misdemeanor is ( most of em ) a slap on the hand & $ out of Ur pocket. Hope this helps U & good luck, TX. is so nice.

Call the licensing board and ask anonymously. They will know.
