I don't understand why. It's starting to annoy me because most non vegetarian/vegans insult people for no reason and leave idiotic statements, in this section.

So why are they(you) here?

I don't know, so maybe someone else may.

I think some non-veg's come here either because they are considering becoming veg or because they are just curious in general. However, these are not the people who are bashing people. These are the people who ask thoughtful questions, who respond in a tactful way, etc. Unfortunately, the majority of non-vegs on here are just here to stir up trouble. You'll find the same thing on any public forum. Go to the pets section and people talk about "what's the best way to skin a dog" or something equally stupid. Unless you get into a moderated board, there's really no stopping it. Best thing is to ignore them and not respond to their posts. They're like bullies in the schoolyard. If they don't get a reaction from you, they'll move on.

Even though most of the meat-eating posters aren't really interested in these questions, some may be curious about vegetarianism or veganism and are scouting the boards for ideas on how to transition into eating fewer dead and decaying animals. They might find that they feel less anger and aggression after increasing their vegetable intake. There have been several scientific studies done that show people, especially men, have lower aggression thresholds after eating meat, and many theories on war show a connection between meat eating and preparing for battle. Come to think of it, don't they eat a lot of meat in Texas, our wonderful President's home state?

I am here because it is a public forum, and since I'm not a veg*n and don't know any, I figured it would be a place to learn about the veg*n lifestyle.

And just so you know, I, personally, don't insult veg*ns for no reason. I only respond in a negative way to people that display a negative attitude toward my chosen lifestyle.

Hey, did I get that thumbs down because I said I am here to learn, or because I stated that I am retaliatory, or is it because I'm not veg*n?:P

I work in a restaurant that serves a large vegetarian menu so even tough i eat meat i have lots of good recipe ideas and substitutions for meals that call for meat. I don't judge just want to share ideas and get new ones to use at work to better satisfy my customers.

i'm a veg and i think that these people are just looking for anyone at all to insult. they probably have posts on all sorts of boards. just hit the report abuse button. and while i'm a vegetarian, i completely disagree with veggivet! vegitarian philosophy towards life makes us less aggressive. in general, less aggressive people are the ones who decide to become veg! i believe you have it backwards. just remember, Hitler was a vegitarian. as for meat eating before battle, i don't think that armies had too many crops along with them. they ate meat because almost anywhere they went, they could hunt, but they wouldn't always be able to find fresh fruits or veggies. (out of season, unfamiliar with local plants, etc._ peaceful people choose not to eat meat, but being "forced" to eat all veggies probably won't make a dyed in the wool carnivore any more peaceful

Some don't know they are here. They answer a question from the main food and drink page and don't realize the question falls under this subcatergory. The others just want to be mean and cause trouble. Many people do this when they don't understand something. They act like a bunch of pre-teen girls (and you know how mean they can be!)

Bc I like veggie recipes. But I don't insult anyone. Well, not for being vegetarian.

Why do people disguise rants as questions?

When you ask a question, it'll first show up on the home page of Yahoo! Answers, and, here, it'll pop up for anybody browsing the entirety of the "Food & Drink" section, not just V&V.

You'll note, of course, that the "I love meat" 'answers' are usually among the first few, eg, when it was cycling through the newer questions on the main page and the general Food & Drink pages...
