Any white fish will do. Cod is best as you can buy it in any supermarket. You will also need squid, which gives the fishcake a bit of oomph.

Not being funny but why not make fishcakes with any other fish?! Salmon is good for fishcakes....

Any firm white fish will work for making Thai fish cakes.

Use a handblender and whirr up the fish flesh good with the egg!
