Different kinds of tofu are used for different kinds of recipes. Recipes will call for a specific kind of tofu--soft, firm, extra-firm, what have you.
Most people don't like tofu on its own (plain, not part of a larger dish). It picks up flavors from the foods its cooked with, which does make it very versatile. If you know people who eat tofu regularly, have them suggest a recipe for you to try, or better yet, a dish at a restaurant that they enjoy. (I never liked tofu at all until I had some prepared by a professional at a restaurant.)
Otherwise, have a look through some tofu recipes until you find one that sounds good to you, and give it a try. There are tons of recipes on the internet for free. Here are some at my favorite recipe site:

Tofu and soy bean products have high nutritional value and contain plenty of calicum, B vitaminand iron. Tofu is also low in calories and fat and that's why a lot of people use it as a source of diet, but personally I recommend a balance diet and a lot of exercises if you want to lose weight. There are basically three types of tofu: firm, medium-firm, and soft.
Firm tofu is the best for stir fry dishes because it doesn't crumble as easy as medium-firm and soft tofu. It can soak up the flavours from the other ingredients very well during the process of cooking. In authentic Chinese cooking, firm tofu is used for stir fry mostly. Firm and medium firm tofu are sometimes used in soups. Soft tofu is used mostly in desserts. Here in North America, tofu is still a relatively new product in the mainstream market, and most western recipes, at least I have seen so far, use tofu as more of dessert. For example, you can melt chocolate chips and then mix with tofu, puree or blend them together in the blender. But if you want to use tofu as a source of diet, you could probably use firm or medium firm tofu in your salad. Try using paper towel to dry a block of medium firm tofu and cut it into small cubes. Make sure they soak up the salad dressing pretty well ( Thick dressing like blue cheese probably doesn't blend well with tofu. Just use your imagination. Start with dressings that have sweet an and sour taste. Most dressings have sweet and sour taste anyway). Try using tofu in your soups is another option. Think about how the Chinese use tofu and apply it into your everyday meals. Remember tofu itself doesn't taste good unless it's tofu dessert available in store because it already has flavours added like mango, coconut and etc.

Yes, it is a good source of protein and less calorie. Have you ever tasted tofu? If not, you should remember there are many people not like tofu. If possible, go to asian market to buy tofu. They are cheaper and many variatys.

When I became vegetarian, I started putting tofu in smoothies, and this seemed to work out. I wouldn't recommend eating it as a meal. It just isn't too filling.
If your having trouble finding it at the supermarket, it's usually in the produce section with the pomogranet juice at any Safe Way.

Tofu is very good for maintaning the elasticity in our skin. It is very good in shakes. What I do is mix it with frozen strawberries. If you are going to cook with it, you have to season it just like you would meat.
