for the most part, no. there is still a chance you can catch some STDs which are transmitted through gential to genital contact, and since a condom doesnt cover everything, contact with an infected persons skin in the genital area poses a threat of passing something on. the safest thing is to know for certain your partners history to make sure they are STD free

Unfortunately, even when using a condom, you are still at risk for some STDs, like HPV. HPV is one of the scarier STDs too, because certain types can cause cervical cancer in women and genital warts in both men and women. Once you have it, it never goes away and you can always give it to someone else, whether you have an outbreak or not. You still have a slight chance of contracting many other STDs, even those that are supposed to be stopped by a condom as well. Sex is getting scary with all the new diseases being passed around. My advice is to wait or to be in a committed relationship where you know the other person is STD free.

There is still a chance that the condom could break, and they don't always protect you from STD's. The safest thing is abstinance. But if you're gonna have sex, take the pill (or shot or some type of birth control) AND use a condom. ALWAYS play it safe. You never know.

When you really *are* well-protected, no... but remember there is always a small risk of something going wrong, a condom can tear or slip off. If you know someone has a very serious disease like AIDS, personally I wouldn't take the risk.

Unfortunately, it can. Condoms are always the best way to go, but diseases like herpes can still be passed along even with a condom.
For example, if a man has herpes on his ball area, during sex his balls can make skin to skin contact on the females genitals which will pass the virus along.
