it is accessable- can you imagine having to take off your pants or hike up your skirt to get your BP checked?
It is much easier to roll up a sleeve! or take an arm out of a sweater

As mentioned above, because it is palpable and easily accessible. But also because in the seated position it is about the same height as your heart. If you measured the BP in the leg you would get a higher number due to hydrostatic pressure. You can measure the blood pressure in the leg (it is often done in children in the operating room) but it will only be accurate if the patient is lying down.

I would think that it is because it is one of the arteries near the heart, it is palpable and is accessible. You would not want to put a BP cuff around you neck. Do you? Actually, you can take blood pressure even along you leg.
