Here are a few things I/ve learned in the Army
A. Warrior Ethos
1. I will always place the mission 1st.= So, you can't take care of your comrades, inocents or your own life? That's silly, I'm not a robot and when something is wrong I don't have why to do it, I have a brain of my own
2.I will never accept defeat=I will never accept it if some body is attacking my country, How the goverment accepted the defeat in Vietnam, Corea and Somalia? We, the soldiers weren't defeated, it was them, the goverment, take a look of Black Hawk Down just as a referal when stupid orders make us die in the field.
3. I will never quit= I wouldn't quit when I'm fighting for my country, What would you do when you are far away and you don't even have the support of the people who sent you there, isn't qiuting, is no more killing.
4. I will nevr leave a fallen comrade behind.=Do you think Bush will be there for you? I don/t think so. He wasnt there when I was hurt or when my cousin died.

Army Values:

1. Loyalty: To who, Bush? He don't care for us, just he's personal agenda.
2. Duty= In a country isn't mine, Why?
3. Respect= For who? The goverment hasn't respect our people because when they sent us it was to look for massive destruction weapons and we didn't find any, but our troops still there suffering.
4. Selfless-Service= We did just by enrolling our selves presumming we were about to fight for our country, thinking we were helping to spread out democracy, not the economical interests of few.
5. Honor= The one we didn't have by oppresing prisoner as it was done in a jail from the bahalf of our own soldiers and the prision was reassigned to Puerto Ricans troops for the weel care of those prisioners to stop the dishonor of our troops because few.
6. Honor= How can be honor where many have been killed because the ineptitude of our goverment. intelligence knew about the attempting to the World Trade Center a year ahead an nothing was done.

7. Integrity= How can you have integrity when we were sent to a country to fight for the interest of a president with the excuse of weaponry that never was found?
8. Personal Courage= What more personal courege can you have, that you keep fighting even when you know isn;t right? What courage do you need to express you self? What courage does a mother need to receieve th noticed that is son/daughter was killed fighting in a extrange country for the ecomica intersts of the lider of a nation? How much blood is needed to resolve the problems other people have? How much blood does it take the coverine of a mistake?
So Mr. sublime1973 I want to see your postulates. Perhaps if you believe so much in your Bush, Why don't you join th Army to see if cares for you in the same way you care for him?

The military isn't about serving one person. I dont serve the president alone... I serve every member of Congress, every state, County/Perish, city, and civic leader as well, and I serve every person in the USA. My oath of office was to defend the constitution of the Uited States of America from all enemies Foriegn or Domestic. I never signed on to be in President Bushes private Army. And since Ive served under 4 to 5 Presidents in my 20 years that is proof alone.
The Warriors Ethos is a guide, Nothing more.
It is a way of instilling the need in troops to do what they do in combat to the best of their abilities. 1. To place a mission first is also to place your comrads lives ahead of your own, and to perform your job as best as possible. To act as a robot in any situation is to be dead before a mission starts. A Thinking Soldier is a better soldier. 2. To never accept defeat is not based in the government. Its based on a soldiers basic actions. To give up in a battle when you have the means to fight is wrong, and gets people killed (Like your friends in the positions around you). The Government has never surrendered in any war. Korea is still under a ceasefire agreament, Vietnam ended when the Government turned control of South Vietnam Defence back to South Vietnam. As for other places of battles and engagments under fire, you will find that the commanders on the ground and not the president were the prime culprit in fiascos during combat. The President may order the use of the military, but it is the commanders on the ground from Generals to the Senior NCO's that have to plan and execute the mission. 3. I will never quit, to quit is to give your friends and the men and women a kick in the mouth when they count on you as much as you count on them. Give it your all, not because you are ordered to, but because the people around you need you! 4. Never leave a fallen comrade behind- Did you get back to the USA or are you in a POW camp some where? The men that fought with you got you home, The president is not a combat commander. He is a leader of a country, and has duties to not JUST ONE PERSON (like you or your cousin) But to every person from the youngest to the oldest in the USA (that includes you and every one of your family members). Im sorry for your injuries, and the loss of your cousin. No veteran or member of the military wants to see friends go down for any reason. BUT in our line of work, it is a very good possibility to get hurt or even killed. I want you to remember one thing. You signed the contract to get into the military, and the job description has always been available. If bootcamp didn't remind you every day that you were not in the boy scouts. The many days spent on the rifle range and in training didn't tell you you were in a dangerouse job. You are very bitter because of your injuries, and because of your loss. That is understandable. To blame one man for the actions or inactions) of many to include your commanders is wrong. Get well, and understand you have supporter (Myself included) and your loss and injuries are not "Unnoticed, or Unappriciated" for the people of the USA are behind you 100%. Good Luck!

Being a soldier means do what you're told and go get killed.
Is all about being a perfect robot with no mind.
Why do people who enlist in the army then complain they have been wounded/killed? That's what war is all about, dying in the field.

How is it fighting "for your country" when you go kill people who are not threatening your country, 1000 miles away from it?

About the points you describe:
2. Not even when you are defeated?
3. Not even when you're dead?

Sounds like you have a lot of soul searching to do. Those warrior ethos were put there as guidelines to live by not to live up to. Military life is not for everyone and it sounds like your one whom shouldn't consider a life of service. I spent 20 years in and enjoyed most of it. I made many friends and miss everyone of them.
