Hi, I was told by my pharmacist that Singulair [for asthma and bad allergies] would make me feel like I had the "flu" for the first week or so, but in addition I also feel wierd personality changes, "not myself," however my breathing is SO much better...I have done some research and found that other people have also been more angry on this medicine, I am wondering if this is a temporary, initial thing, or if I should dis-continue it because it is a permanent side-effect. Thanks! I am currently on 10mg and am thinking of cutting back to 5mg to check it out...I am also 110 pounds so maybe this will make a difference...?

How long has this been going on? It could be only a side effect.

I've had asthma since I was 5 years old-- I'm now 23. Some medicines I have been put on have made me hostile and angry, as well. I've never been put on Singulair before though, so I can't speak from that experience.

Also, when you're trying to come off a medication, you sort of feel really crappy too. For example, I took my rescue inhaler entirely too much and I was trying to stop taking that. I ended up being very lethargic, which the doctor contributed to that my inhaler had made me very peppy.. Since it is a stimulant. And coming down from that was draining me.

Meds do all sorts of stuff to you. If I were you, I'd talk to my doc. Since you're only 110 lbs, too, that can probably make a difference. Perhaps he/she can cut back your dosage to 5 mg or something.

Hope it works out!!

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

All side effects are temporary, but you might want to see about getting something else. Remember different medicine, different side effects for different people.
