Yes it can, by overstraining when you cough. You can cough so hard, that the supply of blood to the heart is abruptly stopped. The exact same thing that happens when you have a heart attack, so coughing too hard can definitely cause a heart attack...


Croup tends to appear in children between 3 months and 5 years old, but it can happen at ANY age. I had my very first bout of croup a year ago - at the age of 50....... and I was miserable for weeks. I ended up with CHF (congestive heart failure) from it , and have to live with that for the rest of my life

As far as I know, croup is a childhood disease. Would not expect a 40 yr. old to get it.

Yes it can. I am very familiar with croup.....had it all of my childhood.
