I like the keg idea also OR cases of beer cans (1/4 sheet cakes stacked up and decorated), but my 'serving tray' would be a dolly -- cut out of heavy cardboard / wood and cover with foil.

Rather than focusing on his job, I'd focus on his personality. After all a wedding cake does not reflect the bride's occupation; it reflects her taste or the wedding theme.

Ways to make a groom's cake masculine and personalize it:

1. Make it rectangular rather than round.

2. Use cream colored or beige frosting with an elegant brown ribbon.

3. Use the groom's favorite colors or the colors of his favorite sports team if appropriate.

4. The cake flavor can contrast with the wedding cake.
i.e. if the wedding cake is vanilla, the groom's cake can be chocolate or the wedding cake might not have any liquor while the groom's cake has a touch of rum or it can be tiramisu

5. The cake can be based on a childhood favorite flavor or a seasonal dessert. (ex. strawberry cake for a summer wedding)

i have not in any respect heard of a groom's cake till coming to this board so i anticipate it is an American element? i do not comprehend somewhat what that's... What about, somewhat of a groom's cake, get the caterer to do a replica of the very top layer of your cake, yet wheat-loose. That one will be only for you, or that's the only which you and your groom decrease into - then a minimum of it received't make you sense singled out. My brother also won't be able to devour wheat and he and his gf are seeking for a answer to this for his or her wedding ceremony. LOVE the cake, with information from the way!
