Plastic is harder to break than styrofoam. You get sloshed at a party and your plastic cup is less likely to break when you fall and squish it. See you face down on the sidewalk this weekend! : )

I think that it's because the person throwing the party has spent so much money on the alcohol that they have to cut costs on the cups. When you think about it, plastic cups cost less, and come in bigger amounts. Also, Styrofoam is not good for the environment, and when you have a party you are usually outside around a fire, correct? Well, burnt Styrofoam not only smells bad, but it's bad for you to inhale and for the environment. So, next time you're at a party and the person has plastic cups, think about how you're having fun, and not killing our planet at the same time.

One reason is probably the fact that plastic is usually clear.

You can't see the pretty drink through the styrofoam. Styrofoam is usually used for hot drinks, too.

I think it depends on who's throwing the party. I think plastic is better than styrofoam because styrofoam is easier to crush/break, and also to tear into little pieces and make a mess.

Styrofoam is supposed to be bad for the environment because it doesn't break down in the waste...
Now most plastic cups a recyclable=good for the environment :)
Plus they come in better sizes & colors;)

b/c styrofoam is bad for the environment. Plastic cups are cheaper anyways.

Probably because styrofoam can crumble and break easier than plastic. Plus, the plastic is cheap and easy to find.

Styrofoam breaks easily, and when people drink and they tend to do things without noticing, they may squeeze the cup to hard and make a mess on themselves.

Styrofoam sqeaks on your teeth! yuck!

My husband says plastic is more durable when you are drunk and crashing into walls :)

Also, those plastic Solo cups are the perfect size for a beer.

Styrofoam is cheaper, but they're usually smaller. Also, there's always someone at the party who wants to rub the cup and make that "fingernails on chalkboard" sound. Then,of course, there's always those little, white dots on your floor the next day from people breaking the stupid things. Styrofoam and parties do NOT mix well. If you really want to project 'classy',have a message painted on the girls for when they make they're mid-party appearance. Something like "free"(right boob) "Tibet"(left),or "Amanda" "Knox". That's flashing with a purpose, and people regard it as very high-minded. Trust me on this ;) "Savory" is a basil-like spice that some people use for meats and pasta. I don't care for it much.
