lacto-vegetarian-veggie who still eats dairy but not eggs
ovo-vegetarian- veggie who gives up meat and dairy but still eats eggs
some people are called "pescatarians" which means that they are vegetarian but still eat fish. however, i think this isn't a true vegetarian because fish are still living things.

A vegetarian means a person who consumes food that comes only from plants. All others are non-vegetarians. Even if you consume milk and allied products, you are termed as a non-vegetarian. Because an animal's milk is produced in nature to be consumed only by its kids and not by human beings, and not by any other creature for that matter. Nature created milk for human beings in their mothers' breasts. Hence human beings should consume milk only from their mothers, that too until they develop teeth. Once teeth are developed, the child should start consume solid foods. Water will become the only liquid food therafter. Actually our digestive system is designed to accustom to those foods that are derived from plants. The plant food may be vegetables, fruits, nuts, or cereals.
So a person who consumes milk in addition to plant food is called a lacto-vegetarian. And a person who consumes only plant food but avoids dairy items is known as simply a vegetarian. If you want to know more about vegetarianism and why we should become vegetarians, contact ag.ravi@yahoo.com

A person who is a vegetarian but avoid dairy and egg products is a vegan. You can also call them a "pure vegan" or "pure vegetarian".

If the person eats eggs, they are an ovo-vegetarian. If they avoid ALL animal products (including honey, but not just in their diet, but their clothes, shampoo, etc as well), they would be vegan.
